S2, #4: Living Rent Free in my Head

Every once in a while, a song comes along that truly gets stuck in your head like an earworm.  You find yourself humming it at home, you sing it without even realizing it, and it becomes a central piece of your musical catalogue for that week/month/year.  After Hours by Ellis has been that song for me for the last few weeks, as it's got a cool mix of funk, dance, and pop that truly brings a song that makes me want to move.

Also perpetually stuck in my head is this song off Gryffin's latest album, Last of Us featuring Rita Ora.  This one lives rent-free in my head and truly comes up about every 45 minutes.  When I load up DJ X on spotify to listen to some music without controlling, I swear this one comes up in the first 5 songs every single time without fail.  It's catchy and truly has that staying power that keeps me coming back for more!

Funky Friday is here at long last once again.  God damn if this isn't my favorite day to share music.  The reason that this one is coming in so late is because I have been at the house of my good friend DJ XMFD mixing and getting tips for just about everything and anything when it comes to mixing music.  But i could never forget you, so here is your daily dose of music for the day!

This track feels very "speak easy", "bootlegger", and old timey, and I think a modern sounding version of this one would feel boring.  The addition of horns and instrumental interludes really sold me on this one and it has been sitting in my playlist just waiting for you.  Ya know, now that I listed to it while writing this post it reminds me a lot of the movie Aladin as well....Throw this remix by Gramophonedzie on and dance into the weekend because everyone deserves this time off before the holidays.

What are fridays? Free, funky.......KAWAII!  I havent done one of these in a damn long time but it came on in the car last night and honestly it was all I could think about! Haha, its japanese, its obscure, its obnoxious, its fantastic.  The Ryu Remix of CaramellDansen.

Also, because I know this post has been silly (and that song above is rediculous, I figured I would share a cool song that isnt excellent, but if you are a fan of Doctor Who, it will be greatly appreciated.  It is a remix of the Song that was sung in The Rings of Akhaten.  Wake up!  Have a great weekend everyone and I will see you on monday!
