0299 - The Long Return of Free Friday

I decided to step off the soapbox, even though I will give you a quick breakdown of what I was going to say.  Anyone who reads this blog consistantly knows that lyrics make or break a song for me.  There is a top 40 song Cool Kids by Echosmith, and the chorus just makes me angry.  For those who haven't heard it (Listen here).  The chorus of this song is "I wish that I could be like the cool kids, 'Cause all the cool kids they seem to fit in"..... Ok, I know it is just a song but this is sending the entirely wrong message to kids.  You don't have to be cool to fit in, be yourself and you will fit in.  I have a group of some of the best friends in the world, and I'm strange/awkward/clumsy and the last thing from a so called "cool kid".  I wouldn't want to be one because they always seemed so......uniform.  I know most of you might feel the same way and I just wanted to get that off my chest.

FREE FRIDAY!  I HAVE AN OVERFLOW OF FREE MUSIC THAT NEEDS TO GO RIGHT NOW! COME ON DOWN!
Seriously, I have so many free songs that have been building up.  So today will be free tracks and next week will be a free week!

First up is a sweet triple threat remix of the Yeah Yeah Yeah's track Maps by Tommie Sunshine, CID, and Modern Machines.  This track is hot.  I am not really sure thought because the audio samples seem to be from Adventure Club's track Wait, but they may just be recycled.  The song is hot though, beautiful, big, melodic, just a really great rendition.  Check out this killer remix and pick up the free download!

Even though I am not a huge fan of it, the new released track from Knife Party's upcoming album has been getting so much attention.  The track is a little too much for me, the chorus seems a bit simple, but overall its not a bad song.  Pick up the free download and let me know if you like it or not!

0298 - Beatifully Beautiful

Tomorrow lets do something different, I don't hop on my soapbox very often but there is a top 40 song that really really gets on my nerves and I will explain why!

Ok, onto the music.  The first song for today is a really cool deep song.  All of the vocals are done in German, but they are still just as beautiful as if they were done in English.  A very deep and smooth mix by Pretty Pink really gives this song a superbly relaxing and chill feel.  You don't really need to understand the lyrics to feel the power of this song.  The title means Beautiful Moment and I think it captures it beautifully.

Second up today is a really chill and moving song from Robin Schulz.  This one has little tidbits of vocals but they are deep, faded into the audio beautifully, and the driving bass comes through the whole song.  Subtle, relaxing, and an overall just fantastic track.  Kick back your feet with this one, relax, and pretend its Friday.

0297 - Never Go But Make You Go

Insan3Lik3 and Rob Gasser have been on a pretty incredible roll lately.  Everything they seem to create is outside the usual norm and I love all of it.  This track is no exception from that statement.  You Make Me Go features smooth vocals from Miyoki and a very smooth and kinda bouncy feel.  A great driving bass that isn't too heavy mixed with great glitched tonality.  Check out the other stuff this duo has done as well, because you truly won't be disappointed!

I was going to post the new Knife Party track released a few days ago...but christ....its just not my style.

0296 - Gwitar Jam

Two really chill and cool songs for you today!

First up is a Sam Feldt Remix of Sander Van Doorn and Firebeats' track Guitar Track.  The track alone has a really nice feel to it, but Sam Feldt really improved on the track making it extremely smooth and suave throughout.  With a little dash of bounce and a whole lot of funky fatabulousness, this one will mellow you out and let you sink into your chair or dance like a freak!

Second on the docket for today is a very simple and feel good summer track.  The Chassio Remix of Summer Jam from the Underdog Project is nothing brand new or mind blowing, but its just a great chill out feel good song.  Enjoy it and I will see you back here tomorrow!

0295 - Kinda Faded But I'm Feelin Alrigh

Today's beauteous track comes in remix form from Big Gigantic, a remix of a ZHU track called Faded.  ZHU has burst onto the scene since releasing his initial remixes and everyone having no idea who the hell he was.  Since then he has exploded, and I think this remix from Big Gigantic will only take him further into the good graces of the musical community.  This one has great instrumentation, a little bounce, and just an overall great feel.  Give it a listen!

0294 -Disco never dies

I am writing this post from an airport so it's gonna be short and sweet.  This song from NEUS had a great ting and swing aspect to it.  It's funky and fresh and hopefully just what you need to help you get through this Friday before the weekend!  Enjoy!

0293 - Chill and Glitchy

First up is a really chill and fast paced song from MaHi.  It has all the elements that I usually love in relaxing chill songs, but takes it up and brings hit higher and faster.  The track is done absolutely beautifully, with a driving bass, a chill segment with great instrumentation, and a finish that will leave you wishing the song was longer!  Give it a listen and see for yourself!

Second on the docket for today is a very bizarre song, and I love it.  It was not at all what I expected when I started up the song because it takes a very unique turn.  The song has a very glitchy feel with great distorted vocals.  This one took me a few times to fully grasp the entire song, but after the 3rd or 4th time I really started to fall in love with it.  I hope you will too!

0292 - Let Your Bounce Bounce

First up on this much needed mid-week Banger Wednesday, I have a really slick remix for you.  Those of you who are as pleased with what Porter Robinson has been doing lately, especially with the release of his new album, will love this one.  Lionhearted is clearly becoming one of the most popular tracks off the album, and Arty gets props for turning the remix into something special.  This one has great tonality and melody during the chorus, and even after the drop Arty keeps it melodic.  A great remix overall, check it out!

Second track up for today is a big remix from TJR.  Usually I am iffy in the whole Melbourne Bounce genre.  About 90% of the time it sounds to me like they did a lazy job and all the drops and progressions sound exactly the same.  However, every once in a while I come across one I really like, and today that honor goes to TJR.  His remix of Elliphant and Skrillex's track Getting Younger has a great bouncy feel to it, and he did an excellent job of working the bounce in with the lyrics and making it sound really smooth!  Give it a listen, pick up the free download, and let me know what you think!

0291 - Catchy and Chill

I actually heard this one on the radio (shocking that good music can be on the radio these days) during a featured artist segment.  Zella Day's track East of Eden has a very chill feel to it, and Carousel only ramps this up by giving it a little rework.  Zella's voice is very unique and compliments the music extremely well.  Give it a listen and have faith that there is good music on the radio....sometimes.....ok like 2 times.

0290 - Warm on Up, Gonna Warm on Down

A really bouncy and a very smooth feel come your way this Funky Monday.  LeMarquis combines a smooth Synthesizer with a very smooth chorus and fantastically consistent vocals.  This one feels kind of futuristic and has a special kind of suave-ness to it that I have been digging lately!  Give it a listen and tell me what you think!

0289 - No More Waiting, Its Friday!

Two things for you this funkiest of Fridays.

First up is a pretty sweet mini mix, now when I say mini I mean mini (16min), but don't let that deter your.  The mix is totally solid, filled with great funk tracks.  Stereocool really brings all of these tracks together in a way that I only wish I could one day.  Give it a listen!

Second up is a really interesting track.  My brain tells me it is big room but a bit of me tells me that it is Funk and honestly, the clash makes the track very intriguing.  It has the feels of both, a build up to a minimal drop, but that drop seems so bouncy that I would classify it as something else.  I am very intrigued to hear more from this guy to see what direction he goes musically!  Go ahead and press play and give me your opinion on this one!

0288 - Music is always your friend

Today I bring you a stellar remix of a Carousel track.  This remix has so much energy and Avenue does a really excellent job of keeping the flavor of the original and then adding his own unique spin to the track.  Still funky, still chill, and still a really great track.  Worth giving a listen for sure, and I can't wait until I can have this one in my library.

0287 - You Can Hear Bangers Anywhere

Two bangers for you today both of which are great and should see club time for sure.  The first is a Tiesto and Dzeko & Torres Remix of John Martin's Anywhere for you.  They still maintain the beautiful vocals and combine then with some great low key stuff, slowly building until the drop hits hard and heavy.  It hits hard but it still maintains tonality and sounds excellent compared to a lot of remixes now that take out the sequences in the drop and just replace it with big room garbage.

Second up is the Audien Remix of Armin Van Buuren's legendary track, This is What It Feels Like.  I love the original and am usually a fan of Audien's work, but every other remix of the song I had heard was absolutely garbage.  This one was strange though, as it was a very subtle rework instead of trying to make it into an entire new track.  Give it a listen!

0286 - Tuesday Critically Hits

This track from Space Laces had me at the name before I even hit the play button.  Since I hit it, I think I have replayed the song more than a few times.  This one features some sweet dubstep with a very futuristic feel to it.  Dungeons and Dragons is a sweet track, and for sure getting me back into being a fan of the dubstep genre.

0285 - Monday's late but here

Here is Monday's track everyone, now that I finally have internet the posts should be coming more rapidly.  This one is a very smooth track, Urban Contact really delivers with their remix of Nihils' Help Our Souls.  Smooth vocals with a very smooth and funky piano, with the addition of a bit of bounce halfway through.  Not heavy because it doesn't need to be.  Give it a listen!

0284 - Funkiest of Funkdays

The Knocks are incredible, I don't think anyone here can disagree with that.  Great music production, slick vocals, just always delivering something beautiful and worth listening to.  Their new one is no exception,  Classic is a really beautiful song that mixes all their best elements.  A nice progressive funk chord set, great vocals mixed over a variety of instruments, and just an overall happy feel.

Second up today, R3hab is back with a really special remix.  This track from Mapei called Don't Wait showcases her truly beautiful voice and talent, then R3hab steps in and gives it a really special funk and house feel.  Much more on the chill side but worth a listen for sure!

0283 - You Were Like Home

First up for today is a super chill track coming from Spada featuring Noise Heel.  This one is more of a background track but it has its own unique flavor and sound.  Taking a Spanish feel and throwing it into an extremely chill track and something that you can bob your head to throughout the whole thing.  The vocals weren't my favorite but they were good and brought the song together in terms of different parts.

Second up today is a really chill and energetic track from Pierce Fulton.  This one came on while I was playing a game online, and I just immediately started to groove to it.  Its for sure worth giving a listen, because he has been so incredibly good in terms of his releases lately.  This one is really chill, but high energy in the places that it needs to be.  Give it a listen and I will see you back here tomorrow!

0282 - The Fries Go Great with the Banger Sauce

First up on this fantastic of Banger Wednesdays is a new track from Disco Fries feat. Niko the Kid.  I mostly knew Disco Fries from his remix work, especially one of Avicii's tracks, but its great to hear a great original from him.  The vocal work of Niko the Kid is beautiful and adds so much quality to the track, the beat drops and rises flawlessly to match the energy and emotion behind the lyrics.

0281 - On a Scale from One to America.....

How free are you today?  Desire more?  COOL.  Today is free music dump day.  I have 2 free songs that I think you will really enjoy!

The first is from Case & Point, one of the extremely talented artists on the Monstercat Label.  This one is called Prism and has really great movement to it.  Moving from simple tonal sounds to a big drop without flaw, this track has a great amount of energy to it.  Check it out and if you like it, pick up the download for free!

The second is from Haywyre, and let me tell you this new track is something a whole lot different.  Mixing in strange and distorted vocals over a mix of dubstepy segments, very electronic segments, and strangely house bits, he somehow brings this track together.  It took me a couple listens to appreciate it, but I really enjoy it.  Let me know if you like it or if it seems overwhelming to you.  If you enjoy it, the download is offered as a "choose what to pay" system, benefiting the VH1 Save the Music Foundation.

0280 - Don't Sit

Sorry for the delay in the posts everyone.  Due to my recent move and lack of internet the posts will be a little late every day this week or until the internet gets fixed.  But better late then never, am I right?

Today's track is an original from Embody, who brings a very smooth and electric feel to his music.  Make a Stand has a really great groove to it, keeping a smooth bass and a the perfect mix of tonality and a little dash of bouncy.  This one is Feel Good Funk and you should for sure give this a listen!

0279 - Fox Reporting for Duty

Funky Friday is here again, and today I have a really cool song to share with all of you.  This one is from Fox Stevenson and is called All In.  This is a great name because it combines so many different elements of a lot of genres: mostly funky and DnB.  This one is fast paced, and it keeps the energy high throughout the whole track, through the extreme tonality and really great vocals.  Give it a listen!  Fox Stevenson has just come on my musical radar, and trust me, he is going to be there for some time!
