0217 - Banger to da Moon

Today we have a banger from a 15 year old.  Seriously, a new signed Monstercat artist that is only 15 years old.  I didnt know shit about anything when I was this age, and he is making bangers.....sad day.  Well don't let it get to you, this kid clearly has a whole lot of musical talent and his track Cheat Codes has a spectaculr feel to it with some video game samples in it as well.  Check it out and let me know what you think.  Cant wait to see what this kid does in the future!

0216 - Chill in the Rain

Today is an ugly day, well at least in Columbus.  So I figured some chill and free music may help turn the rain from an inconvenience to something beautiful and enjoyable.

First up is an incredible remix of Ellie Goulding's Tessellate from Rezonate, and ever since he changed his style everything he puts out is mind blowing.  This remix may not sound like much, but the simplicity behind it really makes the song in my opinion.  Using Ellie's incredible vocals mixed with the perfect combination of bass and chill, this is close to Kygo in my opinion. CLOSE.

Ellie Goulding - Tesselate (Rezonate Remix) (Free Download Here)

This next one is seriously one of the most beautiful compositions that I have heard in a very long time.  Nightcall and Dreamhour have come together to give the people Dead V, and it is beautiful.  Created with great vocals, a driving slow line, and tonality that keeps your head bobbing even though it is slow and chill.  Please don't miss this one, and don't miss the download either because this will be your new rainy day song.

0215 - Throwback Mashup

When both of these songs came out, they were easily my favorites.  Million Voices by Otto Knows was on repeat nearly nonstop within a few weeks of its release, and I would say Seek Bromance by Tim Berg (aka Avicii) was crucial in my introduction to EDM and keeping me interested.  This mashup was released about 2 years ago, but holy crap does it hold up well.  A great combination of two incredibly talented artists, and its for sure worth listening to!  Check it out!

0214 - Funky Freedom

Funky Friday is here at last, and this week has been a long one.  So lets just kick back and enjoy the funk while you start your weekend!

The first one I have for you today is on the slower side but its a great track overall a really well composed and a beautiful track.  Moves very smoothly and has the perfect level of funk.  Give it a listen!

Louis the Child - Casse

Next up is a sick track from the The Knocks.  This track is the perfect level of funk and pop with a driving beat and awesome vocal samples.  Please check this one out because its my favorite funk track I have recently.  Check it out and have a great weekend!

The Knocks - Dreaming

0213 - Chill Dubstep Takeover

Usually I am not a fan of the big heavy dubstep, but there are certain variations that really get my blood going.  The biggest exception to that is chill dubstep, something about it just puts me in a really relaxed and "not a care in the world" mindset.  So today I have two of my recent favorite additions to this genre.

The first track is Locked Up from Larcy.  Once again, stellar vocals, and really a great synergy between the chill dubstep progression and drops.  This track just feels great all over, keeping tonality (which is usually my problem with dubstep) and adding it to dubstep drops.  Check it out for yourself!

Larcy - Locked Up (Free Download Here)

Next up, and easily one of my favorite songs right now is the new track from Trivecta, off the Monstercat label.  This one is nearly perfect in my opinion, at least the best put together dubstep song that I have heard in a long time.  Mixing together the vocals, vocal samples in the drops, still keeping things switching to keep the listener guessing, and adding great chord progression sequences throughout.  I hope you like this one as much as I did!

2012 - This is not the end

Two big bangers for you today.

The first comes from Audien, a huge name in remixes and original tracks.  This new one called Hindsight, has nearly everything I look for in a track (but I'm willing to overlook the lack of vocals because of the sheer incredible calibur of this one).  Great melodic and almost orchestral sounding, leading into build up that is the perfect mix of piano/bass/synth, and then moving into a drop that has been stuck in my head since I first heard this track a few days ago.  It really got me hyped for the day, and I hope it does the same for you!

Audien - Hindsight

Proximity has become one of my favorite youtube channels that I am subscribed to, they advertise as "the best music you haven't heard yet" and they continue to deliver on that promise.  Though this channel I discovered this next song by Manufactured Superstars, a really overall well done and impressive sound mixture and quality.  Check it out for yourself and subscribe because they really release some incredible music!

0211 - Two Huge for Tuesday

Two huge tracks for you today, and one is free (although honestly I wish the other had been free instead).

The first comes from Lush & Simon and Tom Swoon and seems to be gaining some popularity.  This radio edit of Ahead of Us has catchy progression, great vocals that really add a vibrant nature to the song.  Give it a listen, its a pretty good track to start off the day with!

Tom Swoon, Lush & Simon - Ahead of Us (Radio Edit)

Next up is Shaun Frank's Club cover of John Newman's Love Me Again, a song that is great by itself.  This remix just takes it to an entirely new level, with a really sick drop that still keeps the tonality of the original and just reworks it into something really extraordinary.  You can also pick up this cover for free by following the link.  Better then the original?  You tell me!

0210 - Monday on the Floor

Mahup monday makes its return.  I know that I haven't been posting many mashups, because honestly they are hardest to find.  There are so many bad ones that are just too much so I only post ones that I really enjoy.  I just wish Titus Jones would release another album.  When I heard this one, I knew it had to help bring back mashup monday.  It is a pop mashup but it still has great flow and left me with a smile on my face.  Its by Robin Skouteris, the same guy who did the Get Lucky mashup I posted a while ago (find it here).  This one is pretty good and you should for sure give it a listen!

0209 - Funk for DAYS

Funk time!  Double dose today!
First up is a surprising chill and funky trap song.  Blew my mind the first time that I heard it, I literally think this may be one of my top songs right now.  Check it out and even if you dont like trap give it a listen, its resembling of Kygo more than trap.

Halsey - Ghost (Daktyl Remix)

Next up is a fast paced funk song that got stuck in my head from the first time that I heard it.  It is from LongArms and has some nice faded vocals, and some truly incredible chord progression mixed in nearly flawlessly with funk elements.  This one is not one to miss!  Have a safe weekend everyone and I will see you back here on monday!

LongArms - Surrender

0208 - Break it down Chromeo

Chromeo is just the king of original and great music.  We all know that everything they put out just has that soul and incredible influence.  Well one of their tracks has recently gotten a huge facelift in the form of a remix from Dillon Francis.  Jealous was pretty good by itself, but this remix takes it to a whole different and new level!  Check it out!

0207 - Is it a Banger?

First of all, if you haven't seen Parks and Recreation then you need to watch this clip:
Tom Describes A Banger
Not perfect put pretty funny and for sure applicable for today.

Also, Sidenote.  I'm trying to post newer stuff to this blog as opposed to so many old tracks that many of you may have heard before.  Do you have any preference for this?

Two bangers for you today.  The first is the Doctor P Remix of Datsik's Track Hold It Down.  This one has killer vocals from Georgia Murray, combined with great drops, and really strong heavy feel.  For sure should mix this one at some point but for now rocking out in my car to it will just have to do.  A bit melodic but mostly in your face and requiring your attention.  Give it a listen!

Second up is Pierce Fulton's huge anthem Runaway.  You guys know I am a sucker for great vocals because I talk about them all the time, but this one truly hits hard.  The vocals are insanely chilling, accompanied by less intense beats and then executed with incredible drops that get stuck in your head with such ease it's not even fair.  This one has been stuck in my head ever since I heard it a few days ago.  I hope it appeals to you in the same way it did for me!

0206 - Trapped by Trap

Everyone who reads this blog knows that Trap is not my favorite genre, but like I always say, give it a chance because occasionally you will be surprised.  Usually when I am scrolling the many music blogs that I follow and check daily, trap means continue scrolling to the next item.  Every once in a while I will give trap a chance, and in scenarios like this one, I am very glad I did.  This Slander Festival Trap Edit of Ummet Ozcan's Raise Your Hands is pretty damn good.  I mean its very obvious why its called the Festival edit as it comes off very heavy in that regard, but as far as holding judgement, I really enjoyed it!  Check it out and let me know if you do!

Ummet Ozcan - Raise Your Hands (Slander Festival Trap Edit) (Free Download)

Next up is something new and different from Monstercat.  Usually they are known for their incredible elctro, unique house, but they seem to only release chill tracks every blue moon.  Well their newest one from Mr FijiWiji is one of my favorite tracks of the year so far.  Seriously.  It has smooth vocals that don't get overpowered by the smooth rhythms and nearly perfect progression.  Give it a listen and let me know if you love it as much as I do!

0205 - I Wish You Could Have All Been There

So last night I got to see Dannic, Dyro, and Harwell and it was the best show I have been to in my entire life.  As I type this Monday morning I have 1 hour of sleep, aching feet/legs/back, and a ringing in my ears that wont seem to go away.  The damage and likely 10lbs lost to sweat was worth it though as it was easily the best 6 hours I have experienced in a long time.  If you don't know much about any or even just one of them, take the time to check them out because it really is worth your time.  I hope you all had a great weekend, but I am in recovery mode so that is the type of music on the docket today.

The first is from Vancouver Sleep Clinic, a newcomer on the scene who just released their first EP.  Every song off of the EP is chill, melodic, and just beautiful, and I think this one is my favorite.  It takes away to an entirely different place, one that has a feeling of safety, security, and love.  Check it out and help get over the Monday blues.

Also for you today, one of the best chill dubstep songs that I have heard in a very long time.  Melodic and great vocals mixed with a nice bass that isn't overwhelming and goes very well with the chill composure of the song.  SirensCeol, Reaktion, and The Eden Project come together to create something truly awe inspiring.  Let me know what you think!

0204 - Music to Last You All Weekend

3 big things to share with you today!

First, you all know how huge a fan of Kygo I am.  Well he is going on tour and was featured on Diplo and Friends, which is just about an hour straight of Kygo music. AND ITS FREE.  Sadly only Miami, Washington, Chicago, New York, and San Fransisco are getting American tour dates, but its great to see him finally getting the recognition that he deserves!

Second up today, Funky Panda made March electro-swing month, releasing countless great electro swing tracks.  If you missed them click Here to go their electro-swing playlist.  At the end of it they released a small mix highlighting the best of the tracks that they shared.  Its pretty fantastic and covers some of the best songs they played during the month.  Check it out!

Best of Electro-Swing March 2014 Mix

Finally, I was surprised this week by an track that I found on a blog that usually contains only trance but does have some diamonds in the rough.  I do tend to have an opinion about songs from this site because of the others I have heard, but this blew all my expectations out the water.  Signs by Namaste featuring Tiana Khasi is really excellent, a near flawless track.  Fast paced, fitting vocals, not too heavy, horns, and an incredibly vibrant overall feel.  Check it out and let me know what you think!  Have a great weekend everyone!

0203 - Boogaloo

Usually I am not a fan of R+B and stuff on the radio, remixes are usually what sells me on a song that is in the top40 at some point.  The same is true of the original Let Me Love You by Mario, but this remix from LeMarquis really transforms the song into a chill anthem.  Very vibrant and easy to bob your head along with, this remix really caught me off guard!

Mario - Let Me Love You (LeMarquis Remix)

Next up is a really beautiful track.  Not in the sense that it has perfect progression, perfect amount of bass, or anything along those lines.  Its just beautifully composed and edited and its my favorite song to listen to and calm me down if I get really stressed or frustrated because it just carries me to an entirely new plane of being.  Let me know if it works for you too!

0202 - Electrifying Freedom

Charlotte Hanning has been featured on many tracks, with artists like Insan3lik3, Ramses B, and Teqq.  While now she is back and on the vocals for the new track with Xilent called Free Me.  The track is stellar, starting out really melodic and almost acoustic feeling.  Then it builds up to a nice tonal drop that focus more on melody then bass, which seems hard to find these days.  Check it out!

Trance is a strange genre in my book, some of it seems so generic yet some of it is so incredibly moving that I fall in love with it.  I subscribe to Armada on youtube, and I will be honest some of the stuff they release gets moved to the trash within 30 seconds of listening, but I try to give them all a chance.  This one really tugged at my musical heartstrings though: good bass, great melody, and pretty good progression.  Let me know what you think!

0201 - Touch the World

Two fantastic songs for you today, that are both different in their own unique ways.

The first comes from MitiS and is one of the most melodic and interesting songs that I have heard in a long time.  It is unique because it doesn't have a huge bass, but it also doesn't need it at all.  The tonality and melodies are enough to carry this song pretty high into my charts, and is one I am sure I will be stuck on for some time!

Second up is a very cool and unique turbo funk track from Nhato called Hello World.  It feels very quick, much faster then the bpm would boast, and has funky and in your face rhythms while taking breaks that have a very futuristic and fitting feel to them.  Check it out and let me know which one you like better!

0200 - Monday Funday

First of all, let me say thank you.  I never imagined that this blog would get such a positive response like it has.  200 posts and months later, I still look forward to doing this blog every day and it's all thanks to the feedback and loyalty of all of you.  I love you all for helping me with my dream of sharing music and now finally recording my own stuff (more mixes coming very soon I promise).  I owe this all to you so thank you, thank you all so much.

Since we have had this format for some time I want to know what you guys think about it.  Do you like the set days we have?  Would you like some removed or added?  Let me know in the poll that will be up on the facebook group or as a comment on this post.  Until the feedback comes in, we will keep going with the normally scheduled week.  I have been a big fan of beatpad mashups ever since I first saw the live mix of Madeon's Pop Culture (which you can watch Here if you have never seen it).  This one comes from Shawn Wasabi and is a Skrillex Recess mashup that is kinda chaotic but pretty great overall.  There is a free download but the visuals make the track for me.  Check it out!

The second is just a cool combination of Avicii's "Wake Me Up" and Men at Work's "Land Down Under".  A pretty good mashup that really isn't anything incredible, but its something pretty cool that I figured I would share with you all.

0199 - The Late One

Hey everyone, I am sorry this post is so late.  I stayed home sick from work on friday, and our internet has been out for the last 4 days.  I just got internet back saturday, so I figured I would put up friday's post late, better late then never.

Two tracks for you today.

The first is a remix of a very familiar electro swing song, one that blew my mind!  Skeewiffs delivers a excllent remix of this song and the result is something that was instantly downloaded and added to my swing mixes.
Skeewiff - Maple Leaf Rag (Skeewiff Mix)

Next up is a funky and chill track that is sure to cleanse your musical soul, chill and funky as a skunk.  Voice of Reason by Haywyre & Galimatias is hot and relaxingly fantastic!

0198 - Relax Til' Tomorrow

Weekend is almost here, so just kick back your feet and get through the day with some chill and fantastic tunes.

The first is Aeterna from JackLNDN, and I have been waiting for the right time to share this one with you.  Ive listened to it too many times and its the perfect dose of chill and relaxing.  Very reminiscent of being on a beach or vacation with just not a care in the world.  Check it out and close your eyes to let it carry you away.

JackLNDN - Aeterna

The second track is one I have been debating if I want to post on here for some time.  Its good and its finally time to share it with all of you.  This one has a constant moving funk vibe, but still provides the chill aspect by never going too heavy with the bass or tonality.  Let me know what you think about it!

Mystery Skulls - Ghost (Solidisco Remix)

0197 - Flash to Hump Day

This week is seemingly going very quickly, I don't know why but I am totally ok with it.

The first banger that I am sharing with you today comes from Thomas Fronix and is called Flash, which is the perfect title because the song is so good it seems to be over too quickly.  Great heavy bass coming in with some toned down tonality to fit the heavy sounding vibe.  I can see this one making huge splashes in mixes and festivals.  It has that big room feel without being big room and.....bad.  Pick up the free download and let me know what you think!

Thomas Fronix - Flash (Free Download)

The other track i have for you today is one that I hope you have heard already.  This is one of the new ones from 3LAU (pronounced BLAU), who for the record has been on a hot streak lately.  Jesus he is so talented.  AND HEY! If you can make it to columbus for his show tickets are only $15.  This one is called How You Love Me and its very well done, with great vocals, and just an overall danceable and exciting feel.

0196 - King Kygo

You all know that I love kygo.  Chill remixes, insanely melodic, putting new twists on recent hits and old classics.  Well his new remix of M83's Wait just dropped and it does not disappoint!  Chill and just overall in credible, this new one is one of my favorites of his.  Check it out and let me know if you feel the vibes as heavily as I do!
M83 - Wait (Kygo Remix) (Free Download)
