New Years EVE!
Hope you all have crazy plans to celebrate the last night of the year in style and start the new year off with a bang (if you dont, I know Krewella is playing a free show in Cleveland).
Well if you don't know Savoy, STAHP. RIGHT NOW.  Close everything and download everything he has ever done because holy chesus is Savoy a talent.  He creates incredible music, and also does just mind blowing mixes.  Sometimes these two line up and he just puts something incredible out.  This is one of those times.  Im in Need (VIP) is an incredible track that has everything you could ever want in a great electro/dubstep song.  Check it out, pick up the free download, and I will see you in the new year!

0130 - Before Year is Out

Today I bring you some of my favorite Mashups from the year that Never made it onto the blog, I figured that we need to all listen to these so we can already start preparing for the magic that will come next year!  Enjoy!

This one has a bit of age to it, but I figured it should be shared because its one of my favorites.  Taking a bunch of old alt. songs and mixing them up into something smooth as butter.  This is by Party Ben, the same guy who did Galvanize the Empire.  Enjoy!

Party Ben - Boulevard of Broken Songs

Next up is a compilation, this list was released halfway through the year, but it does have a bunch of awesome mashups from the first half of the year.  They also just updated it and it now has 50 from the entire year.  Here is my favorite but check out the whole list below.

0129 - Absent Funk

Today Starts the first day of posts that I am on vacation for.  These posts will be on the blog site only as I am on vacation with no access to wifi or any communication of any sort.  So be sure to check back here through the next week to keep up with the posts!

Funky friday is here with something to get your feet moving.  This one has a nice driving funky beat and lyrics that seem to come an alt rock song, they mix into a very unique track that will keep your spirits up this weekend and your head bobbing.  Enjoy and see you back next week!

0128 - Lucid Dreams for the Holidays

Pegboard Nerds are filthy and I love them so much.  Everything they do on the Monstercat label and all of the stuff they release independently.  Usually they have been doing a lot of remixes, and this one is something really special.  Lucid Dreams by Mat Zo is a really great track by itself, but Pegboard Nerds throw their own unique twist onto it.  Check it out below and enjoy the day after the fat man breaks into your house!

0128 - Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Everyone!  This post is coming a day late because I honestly made the post late at night and then was so caught up with my family that I just completely forgot to put it up.  I got some awesome gifts, but honestly I was just happy to be with my entire family.  To me, thats what Christmas is all about!
So here are two gifts from me to you today.  For the past 2 years, Monstercat has released a free christmas album.  Some of the tracks are a bit strange, but overall it is full of solid tracks that have a Christmas twist.  Its a name your price deal, so if you dont have any money to spare then you can just enter $0.00 and get the albums for free!  Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

0127 - Tis the Season

Today I bring you a song that has a bit of Christmas cheer in it, I mean its not strictly a Christmas song but it does have the tonality that most seem to have.  This is one of the newer tracks of the progressive house section of Monstercat.  A dream combination of Au5 and Fractal combine to make a truly incredible prog. house song.  Awesome vocals, a nice drop that leaves you wanting more, and then the deliver everything you could ever need with the followup.  Seriously a great song off their new EP, one that is for sure worth catching and listening to if you get the chance.  Enjoy and I will see you back here tomorrow!

0126 - The Season is Upon Us

Today I bring you another special one from Titus Jones, the master of the mashup as far as I am concerned.  This one is one of his best as far as I am concerned, combining a lot of the big songs that have come around in the last few months  including Safe and Sound, Cups, Some Nights, and many more.  This track is seriously not one to missed if you are big fan of the mashup genre.  It also comes with a melded and continuous music video so that it feels like one continuous song.  Check this one out and I will see you all back here tomorrow for the next track!  Hopefully I can find some christmas stuff, if not then I have some from past year!

0125 - The Funkmass Cheer

Funky Friday is here at long last once again.  God damn if this isn't my favorite day to share music.  The reason that this one is coming in so late is because I have been at the house of my good friend DJ XMFD mixing and getting tips for just about everything and anything when it comes to mixing music.  But i could never forget you, so here is your daily dose of music for the day!

This track feels very "speak easy", "bootlegger", and old timey, and I think a modern sounding version of this one would feel boring.  The addition of horns and instrumental interludes really sold me on this one and it has been sitting in my playlist just waiting for you.  Ya know, now that I listed to it while writing this post it reminds me a lot of the movie Aladin as well....Throw this remix by Gramophonedzie on and dance into the weekend because everyone deserves this time off before the holidays.

0124 - Get Real Thirsty

Today I am coming to you from a state of relaxation.  I am done with everything for the holidays and just relaxing with family and friends and I sincerely hope that you are doing something very similar.  ALSO GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND DO YOUR SHOPPING.

Music Time.

Today I have something really cool for you all.  Chromeo is a group that has always been help in high esteem in my eyes because they just have an incredible sound.  The first thing that I heard by them was Bonafide Lovin, a song that I still love and listen to quite frequently.  This song is pretty awesome as well, and let me tell you SAVOY really kicks it up a notch with his original remix and gives it his own unique sound.  This is one that has been in my cue to play for you all for quite some time, and I am sorry it didn't make it out sooner.  Check out the song below and get the free download by clicking the button.

0123 - Learning to Count the Beats

The title of this post is relevant I promise.  Currently I am trying to learn the process of beatmatching by ear.  This is the process of being able to mix songs flawlessly without the aid of beat markers or counters, and doing it all by ear.  Much different than Virual DJ ( the program I used for a long time), the Traktor program that came with my mixer does not have these beat numbers so I am in the process of learning to match by ear.  This process is very challenging but it is also a whole lot of fun, if you haven't learned how to do this I recommend it highly because it makes listening to music and mixing it a much more interactive and enjoyable experience.
But hey, thats something you will all get to hear when my mix drops very soon!  I am getting my mixer back today, so it should be out sooner rather than later. :)
Double Banger Wednesday, one thats brand new and one with a little experience under its belt, but both incredible tracks.

The first one I have for you today is the new one off of The Glitch Mob's upcoming album, one that I am really excited for.  If you haven't heard their stuff, you need to do it RIGHT NOW.  Seriously, everything I have heard is incredible and I can't get it out of my head (We Can Make the World Stop was in my head for months).  This new one is nothing different, an incredible track which is a tease to what is sure to be an incredible album when Feb. 11th comes around.  Enjoy the track, and you can get it for free if you pre-order the album before the release.

I also have a throwback banger that I hope none of you missed and you all remember.  This one is off Spinnin' Records, a label that seriously packs a lot of punch.  You usually can't go wrong throwing on a playlist of their music and listening to the greats along with a handful of talented new artists on the rise.  This track by Basto is one that seriously got to me, I like to think its songs like this that really got me into the idea of sharing music with those who will listen.  Progressive House is still my favorite genre and this is for sure in my top list of songs that fall under that category.  Check out the track below and I will see you all back here tomorrow for some more music!

0122 - Tuesday + 7 = Christmas Eve

GUYS. ONE WEEK TILL CHRISTMAS GUYS.
Also, side-note.  I know that yesterday I forgot to check the Facebook page and put the post up there, but for the week that I am out of range of communication I will be exclusively putting timed release posts to the blog and then will put them all on Facebook when I return the next week.  So if you want to keep up with the day to day activities and forgetfulness of myself, then please keep an eye on the blog and not the Facebook page.

As a little bonus to get you all through the day, because good lord is today gonna be a long one, I have two tracks for you all today.

The first is a remix of one of my favorite songs out right now.  As most of you know, I don't stick straight to electronic music, I am also a huge fan of alternative and rock.  Pompeii by Bastille has been all over lately, apparently hitting it big on the radio (I don't listen to radio so I have no idea), and ever since it played on my Pandora station I can't get it out of my head.  This song is extremely well done and they are for sure an up and coming talent, and so is Kat Krazy who adds his own unique flavor to the song, making for a fantastic blend into a truly incredible remix.  Also the video for it is an edit of the original so it still flows with the track very well.  Enjoy this one and check out their full album, because it really is worth the money.

Next up is an awesome electro house song that I found completely by mistake.  I was going through youtube tracks and meant to click next in a playlist but randomly clicked a video suggested in the sidebar and then started to do my laundry.  After realizing it was the wrong track I went to change it but decided to give it a chance and I am so glad that I did because this track is really something special. Check it out below with a free download link!  For all those in Finals Week, best of luck and your time of rest is almost at hand!  Enjoy and I will see you back here tomorrow for Banger Wednesday!

0121 - Burn Down the Highway Skyline

Today I bring you an awesome mashup that I found over the weekend.  I was looking for good mashups, because honestly its the hardest category to find music for because there are just so few good mashup tracks and so many horrible and eclectic ones.  But I recently found a mid year list that was released in about March that has what it claims to be the best mashups of the year so far and a good portion of them are damn impressive.  Also, this gives me the names of some more talented artists in this genre to default to if I run out of material.  I have never heard of Sweekuh, but I will be damned if I ever forget him now because this mashup is awesome.  A combination of Raise Your Weapon by Deadmau5, When You Were Young by The Killers, and Rift by Michael Brun and Dirty South.  This combination is one that I would have never seen happen, which is a sign of the best mashups.  If it doesn't make you think "HOLY SHIT how did he ever" then its a lazy mashup in my opinion.  Enjoy the track and I will see you all back here tomorrow for more music!  Also pick up the free download by clicking on the Download button!

0120 - The Funk Never Leaves

I have discovered something.  There are some days where I just can't handle certain genres, they just seem overwhelming one day and then are totally fine with me the next.  The one exception to this rule that I have found is songs that can be labeled as Funk.  No matter what mood I am in, what time of day it is, or where I am, I can always find a funk song that makes me feel good and back to my normal self.  This song that I am sharing with you today is one that got me out of a funk a few days back.  Its just a song that puts a good feeling in your soul, nothing too obnoxious in terms of bass or pitch, just a nice driving electronic funk song that is continuous and keeps your mind in the right place.  Its just a smooth song, that's the best way that I can describe it.  Enjoy this one and I will see you all back here on Monday!  Have a great and safe weekend.

0119 - You Only Need the Music

Kygo is quickly becoming of my favorite names in remixes.  I have posted two of his tracks on here before (Sexual Healing (Kygo Remix)High for This (Kygo Remix)) and both of them are just about as chill as they come, and this one is no different.  This time Kygo takes on the popular song by Passenger, Let Her Go.  I have found that this song is very hit or miss with people due to overplaying and radio use, but this song makes up for everything that you may hate about it.  Seriously he puts such a unique spin on the song that you will forget all about the original version.  I have been listening to it every time I get stressed, exhausted, and it is in my sleep playlist.  It is seriously one of my favorite chill songs of the year, so check it out and I will see you back here tomorrow!

0118 - Voraciously Vocal

As I have said, good vocals is usually enough to sell me on a track, and in the next few days I have some of my favorite vocal work in songs coming up.  Today I bring you my two favorite incredible and new contribution to this category.

Though I have heard of Audien, I had never heard of Ruby Prophet before this song but I will for sure be on the lookout for more tracks featuring her.  Her voice is the perfect mix to this track that plays out almost like progressive trance, which just the idea of gets me excited.  I will for sure be on the lookout for more stuff like this to share it with you all because this is honestly one of my new favorite tracks.
Audien feat. Ruby Prophet - Circles

The second song that I have for you is just too much.  Seriously, its one of the best songs that I have heard all year, and easily in my top 5 for the year as a whole.  This track was shown to me by my good friend DJ XMFD and I was so blown away I knew that it had to be shared with you all.  Before I talk about it though, if you haven't heard of James Egbert, you are seriously missing out on one of the best artists out there.  He doesn't know how to do a bad song.  Seriously.  Everyone of his songs is always high energy, engaging from start to finish, and he incorporates an incredible amount synergy and energy.  Lets talk about the track Exit Wounds, and everything that is OH SO RIGHT with it.  The builds are great, and the drops are unexpected but fit incredibly well, especially because all the drops arent the same and each has different qualities depends on where it is in the composition.  BUT REALLY THOUGH, THE SECOND DROP *melts*.  The vocals are chilling.  I had never heard of Nina Sung before, but she may be my new favorite feature.  I want more of this, and you will too.  Listen up, and I will see you back here tomorrow for more music!
ALSO.  Discovered how to schedule posts for release, so like when I am gone over new years, I can schedule the tracks ahead of time to still have music every day!

0117 - ThE bIgGeSt BaNg

Today I bring you a track that I found through one of my new channels that I follow on Youtube called Big Bang Playlist.  I will be honest, its pretty hit and miss as they release so much music it seems that they are going for quantity over quality, but every few songs is one that is really damn good.  This track from Landis & Crespo has a huge bass that hits you hard, awesome synth work, a sequence of tonal progression that seems complex but can get stuck in your head pretty damn easy, and some awesome drop out build ups.  Can for sure see this one being dropped at a rave or concert and doing pretty well, I think mixed with the right sequence this one could have people going absolutely insane.  Check it out and I will see you all tomorrow for a double dose of Banger Wednesday with some of my favorite vocal work to date!

0116 - Pop is better Mashed

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you all had a very enjoyable weekend, and can make it through this week to get into the break.  I know this is finals for a good portion of people in school currently, so study hard and power through so you can get to the break and get home!  If you have any requests, message me in the fb group or reply to a post and I will do my best to get you what you are looking for!

It is nearly the end of the year, which means it is time for some of my favorite mashups, The 2013 year in review mashups.  True, a good majority of them are garbage but there are 2 that I always look forward to: DJ Earworm and Isosine.  Thankfully both of them were just recently released and both are very different but both great.

Isosine takes a 'break' approach.  Instead of mixing all of the tracks into one long continuous mix, he breaks them up into sections with different tempos and feelings.  This works really well, because he fits a good number of songs into each section and still makes each flow really well.  Trying to fit too many songs into one can sometimes have the opposite effect and feel congested, which is why I really like the direction that Isosine took his mix this year!  Also, he does an incredible mashing up the videos as well.  Plus, who doesn't love a free song :)  Enjoy!

Next up is DJ Earworm, who honestly is very hit and miss in my opinion.  I would say about half of his mashups blow me away while the other half just seem to be too much and uninteresting.  This years flows really well, taking the road of the slower tempo for a good portion in order to get the flow of the mashup going, and then driving into a bit of speed once it is developed.  Full of songs I enjoyed hearing and others that I never want to hear again.  Overall though, a very solid mashup and one of his better ones.  Check it out and I will see you all back here tomorrow!

0114/0115 - Just Let It In

Two tracks for you today, and then we are back on track.  So more news in the life of stupid me.  If you all don't know, I work in the Columbus City School System.  I usually take my personal computer for use at my schools, and then my jankity work laptop at the office.  Sadly I left my MacBook Pro charger at one of my schools yesterday, and my plan was to get it this morning.  SURPRISE, Columbus City Schools are closed due to the fact that we are supposed to get like 6 in of snow throughout the day.  So.......yea. Im an idiot.  Oh well, that just means no LoL or games for me, as I can't download any programs.  Music research will still be done though, because in all seriousness, music outweighs everything else I do on the internet.  MUSIC TIME.

I have been really getting into songs with Piano intros or interludes in them, something about mixing piano and certain electronic styling really gets me.  This one is right up that alley, as Andrea Fissore really does a great job of combining some chill beats with a surprising piano sequence that will keep you relaxed and just melt your cares away.  Listen up, kick up your feet and close your eyes to fully experience all that this one has to offer!
Andrea Fissore - The Place I Know

And now for the funk that makes Friday the best day to share music, that plus the fact that it was the day my radio show was make it something special.  This song is the epitome of something special, I promise you that.  A good funky song is a work of art, as anyone can make something average by throwing together a synth and a few tonal expressions.  Now that genres like Nu Disco and Electro Swing are taking off, its great to hear more stuff that really sticks with me.  Coastline by Dualtrax and Artfx! hits that mark incredibly, this song is relaxing but has the chorus that will stick with you and a bass that will keep your head bobbing.  When I closed my eyes, the visuals in my mind during this song were ones that I rarely get anymore, and I just had to share it with you all.  Have a great weekend, and I will see you all back here on Monday!

0113 - Music Mends Even the Deepest Wounds

Usually I am not a huge fan of trance, but every once in a while a trance song comes along that just melts my heart.  It started with my friend Sandy, and all the trance music she gave me at our huge music swap when we worked together last summer.  True, this one does have some very house elements, but still has the chill trance feel that just makes music flow seamlessly and has a very natural feeling.  If there is a better side of trance I plan to find it, because if there is more like this then I really want to find it, and trust me you will be the first ones I share it with if I do.
Omnia feat. Everything By Electricity - Bones

Bonus Track: This one I just couldn't wait.  Everyone loved Wake Me Up by Avicii because it was different and highlighted the awesome direction that electronic music could take if it really wanted to get away from stuff like big house and minimal trance.  Well his album True is perfectly a reflection of this (If you haven't heard his new album you can stream it here), and this remix is a nice reflection of the two different worlds, the house and synth world mixed with the country twang style that mixes so well with it.

0111/0112 - Banger Twice

In order to catch up from my absence last week both today and Funky Friday will be double posts.  Lets kick off Banger wednesday with the re-release and video release of one of Cazzette's best songs this year.  When it was first released, I liked Run For Cover but didn't really think of it as anything special.  Now, listening to it again, I realize how wrong I was about that.  The way this duo varies their drops throughout the song is a bit refreshing, slightly altering each one in order to step away from the stigma of always doing the same thing.  Not to mention, the video is pretty cool, imagine awesome musical guy vs. Beastmaster.  Check it out!

Cazzette - Run For Cover

The Next Banger I have for you is an entire album, because this is honestly one of my favorites to come out as of late.  Usually when someone drops an album in this genre, unless it is a compilation like Monstercat does, it is alot of the same and alot of generic songs with one or two huge hits.  This album throws that concept out the window, I had never heard of tyDi before listening to this, but he is on the top of my radar now.  He embraces the idea that change is good and incorporates so many different aspects into this one album, each song better than the next.  Here is a sampler of the entire album, followed by my favorite song off of Hotel Rooms, Gravity.  Enjoy and I will see you back here tomorrow!

0110 - Long Day, Big Day

Happy Tuesday everybody, its been a long day already and the day has barely even started yet.

The track that I have for you today is the new one from Insan3lik3 and Rob Gasser and good lord is it funky.  Insan3lik3 is always incredible and though I don't know much about Rob Gasser, I will for sure look up more of his work if it is all along these lines.  I love it and can't get enough.  Nothing out of the ordinary here, nothing crazy, just a great driving and funky track that will keep you on your toes for sure.

0108/0109 - So I'm an Idiot

So I hope everyone had a excellent thanksgiving, I spent most of it in Ann Arbor Michigan with my mom's side of the family.  Sadly the internet wasn't great and I decided to spend it with my family, hence the lack of posts  However, I am also a big idiot.  While I was home for all of 24hrs in Cleveland, I decided I would work on my mix.  I set everything up, worked for about 3 hours at 2am.  Then I got up the next morning, went to lunch with my little cousins, and left for Columbus...3 guesses and the first 2 don't count, where did I leave my mixer?  On my bed...in Cleveland.  Thankfully the mix is all set up, cues are done and all that jazz, and I have a rough recording, just not one that is up to the standard I want it to be.  So, unless my parents come down to visit a day (which they are talking about doing), this mix may be a christmas present from me to you.

Well its time once again to play catch up (and I promise you this will likely happen over new years too, because I am going somewhere for a week with no internet, cell service, connection to the outside world).  So here are 2 tracks to get back on track.  The first is a funky upbeat dance track from Kappa and Drahosh called All Good.  Its upbeat and makes you want to dance, kind of a more moomba version of electro swing, its hard to explain, you just have to hear it!

Kappa & Drahosh - All Good

The second track is a DnB track from Rameses B.  Rameses is easily my favorite DnB artist from Monstercat, always producing something special.  These tracks always have a lot of buzz to them and always end up in my favorites list or top played in iTunes.  The beginning starts off very reminiscent of hte opening track from Kingdom Hearts, and maybe that is what drew me to this song.  Then it starts to evolve and kicks off with some stellar vocals from Veela, who also did the song Bloodlip for monstercat, one of my favorites off this label of all time.  Give it a listen and enjoy!

Ramses B. feat. Veela - Timeless

Update

Hey folks.  I'm with my family in Michigan for the next few days.  So no more music this week.  I will do double music next week to make up for it.  Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!

0107 - Bring Down the House

Today I bring you a pretty great track, one that is not only really well done, but one that also just gives me a really good refreshing feeling.  Something about this chorus just hits me something fierce, something that hasn't happened in a long time.  Audien really does an incredible job of providing a great uptempo catchy beat with a nice driving base that does not rule the track while Michael S. provides a great synergistic set of vocals.  Listen to the track and let me know what you think of it!  See you back here tomorrow, same time, same place for Banger Wednesday!

0106 - Short Week, Big Songs

Thanksgiving week is finally upon us!  A week of short work and school weeks, family, football, and celebration.  This means that it is already wednesday for most of you! (or thursday for those done on tuesday!)  I hope that you all have plans for this day, and if you don't, then reach out and help someone who may not have the opportunity to see their family for the holiday.  Quick story, that is what happened to me last year.  I was waiting tables at a new job and had to work thanksgiving day, so I was stuck in Delaware, Ohio while my entire family was in Michigan.  I was devastated, and very sad about this unfortunate situation.  Thankfully a local fraternity brother who worked at the same restaurant reached out and suggested I join his family for Thanksgiving.  I was overjoyed just to be around people, and not spending it alone in a room with microwave food and too much beer.  It made all the difference in my life, and I hope that this inspires you to do the same.  It was such a small gesture but went such a long way and I can't thank Preston and his family enough for that.
Even though it is a short week, it is still technically Monday which means mashup day is back once again.  Today's mashup I first heard on Hype Machine, a website devoted to streaming some of the best new original songs and popular remixes of those songs.  With a play as you browse tool, you never have to worry about the song stopping because you want to search something else.  Dada Life is one of the first live acts I saw in terms of electronic music, and they blew me away.  Seriously, their music was mind blowing and likely one of the reasons I am where I am today.  This remix is god damn incredible, seriously a great dubstep mix with the awesome power that comes behind Dada Life's original.  Have a great night and I will see you all tomorrow!

0105 - Friday Took Its Damn Time

This week has been a long one, longer than usual.  Maybe its just me and the 12hr work days, a constant flow of things to do with little to no free time, spontaneously falling asleep (I guess thats what happens when you only average 4-5 hrs of sleep a night), or the stress of applying for a new job.  Thankfully the weekend is here, and I have worked extra hard this week to find my loyal listeners some good tracks to help melt into the weekend and just forget about all the crazy shit that was this week.  Lets start with the chill stuff and get heavier as we go.

First is a crazy new remix of Marvin Gaye's legendary song, Sexual Healing.  Its unexpected but trust me, it works just as well as you think it can't.  The song is already really chill, but this remix takes the track to a whole new level.  The original is hard to beat, but in terms of a funky and chill remix, this one takes the cake.  Kygo blows my expectations out of the water, and it should be the track you kick up your feet to before going out tonight or just relaxing with some friends and some background music.  Give it a try, and pick it up for free!

Marvin Gaye - Sexual Healing (Kygo Remix)

The second thing I am excited to share with you all is a new hour long remix that really had me very excited and in a really good mood.  OWSLA Presents Teddy Killerz Mix (Vol. II) is full of great tracks that mix very well together, some of them I can see not being a fan of by themselves, but the synergy is pretty damn good and that easily makes up for it.  OWSLA is behind producers such as Dillion Francis, The M Machine, Porter Robinson, Showtek, Rusko, Seven Lions, and so many more talents.  So when I saw this new mix from a artist I had never heard of, I instantly gave them some credit and recognition.  This remix does not disappoint, and I look forward to hearing more from Teddy Killerz in the future!  Check out the mix, and grab the hour long set for free!  Have a great weekend everybody, enjoy your time away from the insanity, and I will see you back here Monday for a whole new week of music!

0104 - Thank God its Thursday

This week has been rediculous.  Seriously, work has been killing me with these 12 hours days, life has just been rough.  Working with the Traktor software, but its taking me a bit longer than anticipated because I don't have the free time that I wanted this week.  But thank the lord, the weekend is almost here!  Praise the beats!

Today's track is one that has been on my post list for a long time, and I am really excited to share it with you all.  Living with a crazy roommate who loved rap music has made me fairly partial to certain rappers, but some of the ones he loved were just too much.  This track features one of those artists, Cam'ron.  Wolfgang Gartner does the beats and background while Jim Jones and Cam'ron provide the vocals.  If you don't listen to that much music by Wolfgang, then you seriously need to go torrent everything he has ever done, without a doubt he is in my top 5 for favorite musicians right now.  True, lyrically they aren't the most incredibly written verses ever, but they fit the beat in the sense that they are down, dirty, and would combine into a great club song.  Circus is the perfect thing to talk about in this song because when I see this getting dropped, the people would just go insane from the mixture of rap and electro.  I hope you enjoy it and I will see you back here tomorrow for funky/free Friday!

Wolfgang Gartner - Circus Freaks feat. Jim Jones and Cam'ron

Also As a little bonus, here is the official preview for a song I am actually very excited for.  The preview is only 50 seconds, but if the entire song is anything like it, it may be one of the few good things to come out of the Armada Music Youtube account.

0103 - MY LEG

This is the song I associate with the phrase "MY LEG" a phrase my friends and I use to notify the other team members that we are in trouble while playing online games.  Mostly because, everytime someone has said it in the last few days, this song has been playing.  If you read this blog pretty frequently, you know how big of a fan of progressive house I am.  Its consistanly my favorite genre hands down, and trust me that is not going to change anytime soon (although bounce and funky are a close tie for 2nd).  The song has literally everything you could ever want in a great prog. house song; exquisite build, tonality that you will be humming for days, and just a great overall feeling in your body, one that few tracks can grant me these days it seems.  Enjoy this one and I will see you back here tomorrow!  Same time, same good music, nothing wrong with that.

0102 - Brought to you by a friend

Today's track comes to you from one of my good friends, who shares the interest in chill electronic music that I have fallen in love with lately.  He is the one who always shares awesome melodic dubstep, chill electro, and is the guy who introduced me to Ronald Jenkees.  If you don't know who Ronald Jenkees is BAD. BAD YOU. Go to youtube right now and listen to his stuff right now, because he is one of the few people who seems to compose their tracks.  On the topic of melodic and chill electro, the Singularity remix of this track from PeaceTreaty is really one that leaves nothing to be desired in addition.  The track is near flawless in terms of the genre it jumps at, chill, relaxing, but also a driving bass behind beautiful vocals.  Check it out, and be sure to come back tomorrow for Banger Wednesday!

0101

Welcome to the turn!  100 posts down, countless more to come!  Lets get this goin right with an awesome dose of Mashup Monday!

Mashups have always impressed me, but there something so much more awe-inspiring about seeing the person do it live.  Like Madeon's Pop Culture, this track is also performed right in front of your eyes on 2 beatpads and is really awesome!  Incorporating about 52 songs, ssShawnnnnn brings a mashup that brings together music that shouldnt work, but does.  Tracks all over the spectrum ranging from Paramore's Misery Business, to Skrillex's track Bangarang, to Will Smith's Gettin' Jiggy Wit It.  Seriously, there is nothing wrong with this mashup and everything right with it!  Usually mashups that try to incorporate too many songs end up feeling jumbled and confusing, but this one has such a nice flow that you can barely even tell half of the songs are in there until you listen very hard for it!  Enjoy and I will see you back here tomorrow!

100 - Triple Digits!

Before I start anything, let me just say HOLY SHIT I love you all so much.  100 posts and 2,000+ page views, and I am honestly speechless.  This blog has been such an incredible outlet for me to share the music I love with people, and the response has been mind blowing.  Thank you so much for coming back day after day and listening to my rants, enjoying music with me, and contesting my opinions with "cabbage".  Seriously, I can't express my thanks enough.  So here's to hundreds more posts and hundreds of more songs!

I have chosen some very fitting songs for today; one of which is chill and one of which is funky as a mother.

First off is the chill track, brought to you by my new top tier main man, Armin van Buuren.  I chose this song because the song is titled, "This is What It Feels Like".  Very fitting to today's unique situation, especially because the song is awesome, just like every single one of you that come back here every day.  Check it out and kick up your feet, because trust me, it feels damn good.

The second track is all about the funk.  Funky is seriously one of my favorite genres to search for and share, because holy smokes is there some crazy unique stuff out there.  Cabinett really delivers with this track; It has a bit of a sprite feel, a nice and smooth build, and drops into pure funky gold.  I swears it.  Give it a listen!  Have a great and awesome weekend everybody, see you back here Monday morning!

099 - BOUNCE DAMNIT

So apparently there is a new subgenre called bounce.
Its fucking incredible.
Imagine ska trumpets + edm.
YEA. THAT GOOD.
Honestly, you all know I love Monstercat.  When ever there is a new song I get super giddy, but this one honestly blew all my expectations out of the water.....with a torpedo....made of biceps.  Seriously, this is my new favorite song.  Full of great rhythms and even a trumpet build...to a trumpet drop.  This song is the direction I hope that EDM can transition toward and get out of the boring and repetitive genres like Big Room.  Give it a listen and let me know what you think!

098 - Finding the Hidden Gems

Finding music for this blog I have to listen to a lot of songs.  Well I guess I shouldn't say that I have to, I get to, but what this really means is that I listen to dozens of songs daily that all sound so generic and exactly the same in order to find one that I love and can share with you all.  I subscribe to 7 or 8 Youtube music channels, check 3 or 4 blogs, go to Beatport, and go just about anywhere I can find.  Surprisingly, the ones that I like the best are the small ones.  The channels/websites that have videos with small amount of views usually yield the best and worst tracks, while the big ones all seem to be consistent and honestly that gets boring from time to time.  Its all about patience, perseverance, and the faith that you will find that one track that makes all the bad ones worth it.

Also, Traktor Pro 2 is a bit more challenging than anticipated.  It may take me a bit longer then anticipated to get this mix out for you all but I assure you, its being made about as fast as I can!

This one comes from one of those little known channels that I follow.  Like Armada, this is one of the channels that produces a lot of really generic stuff, but every once in a while a track comes out that blows my mind.  Enzo Daren is a musician that I honestly do not know that much about, and this is the first track I have heard by him, but it will not be the last.  This track has just about everything that you could want in a good banger; great progression, impressive tonality, catchy melody, a nice build, and a drop that is well deserved.  Honestly this seems to be the direction that Big Room needs to return to because I am so tired of going onto Beatport and finding seven of the top 10 songs in every category to be just utter crap. Check it out below and I will see you all back here tomorrow!

097 - So Chill You'll Need A Jacket

First of all, before we get to the music, another small update.

My plan last night was to get home and immediately start playing around with my mixer, of course I get home and have to update my Mac's OS.  Thankfully it was free, sadly it took 3 hours.  After all that was said and done, I got to play with it for all of 20min before having to crash.  This means I am doing just this for the next few days so I can have something for you all by the weekend!

Now, a track so chill that it started snowing.  I swear to you, this one is seriously the most relaxing and chill electro track that I have heard in a damn long time.  First of all, the original is by Ellie Goulding, who all of you know I am in love with.  This song.....may be in my top 3 favorites by her, along with Burn and Stay Awake.  Its so incredibly chill that honestly words cant even describe it because I would end up just repeating the same thing over and over again.  Check it out and get the free download!  Banger Wednesday tomorrow!

096 - Monday Magic

Happy Monday everybody, welcome to another long work week that we will do our damn best to get through alive.

First of all, I have purchased a mixer, a traktor S2! It is really really awesome but the issue is that the program (Traktor Pro 2) it comes with is not the VirtualDJ program that I have become so accustomed to so I am still working out the kinks and will hopefully have everything figured out in the next few days.  This may mean that the first mix of (name redacted) will likely be the weekend at the earliest.  That will make it a nice little weekend bonus for everyone, one that I hope everyone is excited for because you have no idea how excited I am.

Mashup Monday today brings you a mashup from Hardwell combining a few pretty big songs from the recent past.  He combines Epic, by Quintino and Sandro Silva, with Changed the Way You Kissed Me, by Example, into a song that is something of pure beauty.   These two songs by themselves are awesome and the combination is one that doesn’t seem to work until you realize how wrong you were.

095 - Yo Mama Cant Stop It

Finally the end to a long and actually painful week.  Hope you all have big plans this weekend, because who are we kidding, this weekend is going to be about as necessary as they come.  As for me, I am getting a second opinion on my ribs, hopefully its a good one.  Lets get to the music because everyone needs some funk and a double dose of free stuff to get through the day today!

First, we bring the free.  Halloween tracks were all over the walls last week, however, it seemed that very few of them were actually any good.  Before going to bed last week I found that Monstercat had posted one that I missed.  7 Minutes Dead released their third track with Monstercat titled Act III, and let me tell you, this one may take the proverbial Halloween cake.  Its an electro song that has a very spooky vibe to it, like it should be in a goofy survival horror game.  This allows it to get pretty vivid though, because you can feel the picture that it is trying to paint as the song progresses.  It doesn't have any huge bass drops, but then again this proves that you don't need them to make an incredible track.  Enjoy it and get the free download!

Now onto the funky and free.  This is a track I randomly stumbled on during the few days I was sick a while back.  This one stuck out because of the constant bass/synth back that really got my head bobbing without me even noticing it.  Just another track that proves you don't need huge drops to be successful, just something that is catchy and gets people excited.  Its a bit 8-bit and a whole lot Nu-Disco.  This one is just a feel good track that makes you want to move you feet and just kick it.  If you like it, the entire EP is available for free download!  Hope you enjoy it, and I will see you all back here on Monday!  Don't do anything I wouldn't do (which means you can do just about anything that doesn't get you arrested)!

094 - Update Time

So I figured I would just give everyone a little update on what is going on with me and my plans for the future.  Over the weekend I injured myself quite seriously, bruising a rib and rupturing some cartilage in my rib cage.  This means I can not do any intensive physical activity for some time, but this is a good sign because I plan to use that time to start mixing some music.  I am going to go out and finally buy the mixer I have been looking at (thankfully the financial issues I was having before have been somewhat resolved) and hope to have something in the form of a demo coming out very soon (hopefully in time for the 100th post of this blog).  Also, I am considering a name change.  DJ Absonewtly was a great name for my radio personality, but now that I am starting to mix my own music, I think I want to change to something a little more official.  Unsure but I will keep you all posted.

Speaking of music that I want to mix, this track is already in said playlist to be added to my first mix that I plan to make.  TJR released this a few months ago and it has taken off in terms of popularity over that time.  Whats Up Suckaz has just about everything that makes up a great and quality song: upbeat and catchy tonality, a nice big bass to hit you in your face, extreme danceability in the sense that the song evolves and becomes something I can easily see doing well on a club dance floor, and extremely high replay value.  Not to mention, the vocal samples leading into the drops only intensify how awesome they are.  Enjoy and see you back tomorrow for Free/Funky Friday!

093 - Beatport Has Failed Me

So this morning, like I do every few days, I went to Beatport to listen to the top 10 tracks in my favorite genres: House, Prog. House, Electronic House, and Deep House.  I could not be more frustrated with teh results that I found today.  Ok, I know that I have already taken a Soap Box here about Big Room but this is getting a bit out of hand.  They all seem great, have a nice build up, and then just seems to stop trying entirely.  There are maybe a handful of Big Room that I can tolerate, let alone play and share with other people.  In order to find good music though, you have to sift through all of this crap until you find the one song that makes it all worth it.  Today I found two such songs.

First is a song that I had a bit of an eargasm the first time I listened to it.  Just the prime example of how Progressive House can be done correctly, as opposed to Big Room Progressive which seems to be becoming a thing.  True, the drop is simplistic, but it has melodic tones and progression that really caught me off guard.  This track from Deorro is not to be missed, especially if you are a big Progressive fan.  (this has been added to the list for my first mix methinks)

The second track is a song that I can not really pinpoint why I like it.  Its strange in so many ways.  It has a house feel, a moomba feel, and a slow DnB feel all kinda mixed into one eclectic song, but it hits me in a very good way.  Its not a Banger in the sense that it would be on the Radio and loved by everyone who hears it, this track is obviously not going to be loved by everyone who hears it.  The first time I did, it sounded like way too much in one space, but the more I have listened to it, the more it makes sense.  Spinnin' Records is usually very hit or miss with my tastes, and this one by Showtek is a big hit.

092 - Another Ride on the Carousel

Yesterday I was contacted by one of my good friends from High School and member of the awesome chill electronic/pop group, Carousel.  They just released a video for one of their newer songs, and if you enjoyed their past songs, you will love this one.  The song is Another Day and is all about falling for a girl and wanting to spend another day with her.  The song is the perfect blend of chill electronic and just the right amount of pop vibes, really just one of those songs that makes you feel good and relaxed on the inside.  The video takes a little girls imagination of playing with her dolls and brings it to life.  It perfectly reflects the lyrical content of the song, which seems to be a rare quality in music videos these days.  Another great song from Carousel, and another great chill track to get you through the week.  I keep telling them, come to the Midwest and I will be at that show in a heartbeat.  Spots in my car are available if anyone wants to tag along!  Enjoy and I will see you back here tomorrow for Banger Wednesday!

Also, if you have a minute, go vote for their video as well!  The vote would really help and I know they would appreciate it!

091 - Different Sides Collide

Mashup Monday is back in full swing and I am very excited to be back.  Hope you all had a great weekend because HOOO boy do I have some news to share with all of you.

So this past weekend I went to Sugoicon in Cincinatti, an annual gaming and anime convention.  It was awesome, my friends DJ XMFD and DJ Retox played the raves, I went to some panels, saw some friends, and had a damn great time.  The most exciting news though is that apparently at one of the smaller raves that happens throughout the year, DJs are scarce, especially because their only 2 last time cancelled on them.  My convention friend Zerker (for the record he is the one who is involved in the Sleeping Samurai, the mock fighting group where the DJ sword battle (can be found on youtube) was shot, and the one who let me mix my first live set in the same room) knows the people who run it.  Apparently they need serious DJs who have no chance of backing out and he said he may be able to get my name in the mix!  HOLY SHIT.  This is like a dream come true, Zerker, I don’t know if you are reading this but I love you and would honestly kill for this opportunity.  If it pans out, more details to come in the future, if not, its not the end of the world.  Anyway, best moment of the convention was at the rave Friday night where a guy dressed as Jesus was showing off some pretty sweet dance moves and the whole crowd was chanting, “JESUS! JESUS! JESUS!”

Alright, lets get to the music for the day.  The mashup that I chose for today is one which is a bit different.  The combination of Wolfgang Gartner and Bob Marley is one that no one could have ever seen coming because they are on opposite sides of the music world, but Flikhou5 somehow made it work.  This mashup works works incredible well with the chilling vocals of Marley and the synchronized build and drop matching the vocals by Gartner.  Enjoy it!

090 - Weekend Swag

The weekend is finally here.  Hope that everyone is alright after Halloween last night.  Im not but thats only because the power at my house went out for a bit and the storm kept me from going to see the midnight release of Ender's Game.  Oh well, the weekend is here.  Time to let your inhibitions fly and go to Halloween Parties, just relax, or go to a convention (which is what I will be doing).  In honor of a rough week, I present you with one dose of funky, one dose of just awesome, and one dose of spooky.

 DOSE 1: The Funk
Sparx - The Odyssey
Funky as they come and you can't handle it.  This one is seriously funky and I love it so much.  A great combination of funk and electro house, this track by Sparx really delivers just about everything you could want in a unique funk track.  Check it out for sure!

DOSE 2: The Awesome:
Armin Van Buuren - Pulse (Cosmic Gate Remix)
I will be honest, though I listen to everything Armada Music releases, a large portion of it is very repetitive, boring, or just plain not interesting.  However, there are a few diamonds in the rough, and this track happens to be one of them.  A remix of Armin Van Buuren's track Pulse, Cosmic Gate does a truly excellent job of bringing this track back to life.  Seriously, this one is one that is not to be missed!  The video came out today and for some reason I can not embed it, so click the link above!

DOSE 3: The Spooky
Click here for Trip or Treat vol 2!
This is an awesome 11 song Mixtape called Trip or Treat volume 2 that is available for free download through thissongissick.com.  These songs are all a little out there and pretty unique in a spooky, but satisfying way.  I think of all 11 tracks the first is my favorite, because of beginning and the drop is satisfying as hell.  Even though its not Halloween anymore, this mixtape is for sure worth the free download!  Below is the first song off the mixtape.

089 - Happy Halloween, No Free Candy For You

Halloween.  The time we remember as kids going door to door in the costumes that our parents bought/made for us and then returning home to a mountain of candy and a trip to the dentist.  As an adult in his early-mid 20s, it not consists of girls wearing little to no clothing and saying its "my costume", drunk stupidity, horror movies, and whatever else makes it bearable to be 23 and celebrating a children's holiday.  Usually, you get some pretty awesome stuff in terms of music mixes and remixes around this time because people make it spooky and awesome.  Most of the stuff I am sure is going to be released throughout the day, but I figured I would share what I have with you now!  I could share stereotypical stuff like "Internet Friends" because holy shit is that song scary, but I would rather go outside my comfort zone.  So far three tracks but more may come throughout the day!

This is a pretty cool Mashup combining everything from Three Six Mafia to the Bloody Beetroots, and holy crap I haven't heard anything from them in forever.  A pretty cool mashup, though it seems a bit forced it is still not to be missed!

The first thing that caught my eye about this was teh name, brought me back to memories of playing old side scrolling Castlevania day.  And let me tell you, this may not be a throw back, but its for sure a reason to throw your hands in the air and party like there is no tomorrow!  This song is like an electro-rock mix and it really blows up, and gets you pumped for the night!

In my opinion, Zomboy is the most consistent every Halloween because everything he puts out just has a very spooky vibe surrounding it and I love every second of it!  One of his newer tracks is Bad Intentions, and it just oozes awesomeness and fright night fun.  Enjoy!
