0260 - Funky Return

Today we have Funk.  I am so glad that this day has become about funk as well because it is my favorite genre to listen to and easily my favorite to share!  This one comes to us from Silva Hound and is called Cool Friends.  With great driving bass this one keeps going hard from start to finish.  With excellent tonal sequences, Silva Hound really executes one of the best Electro Funk tracks I have heard in some time, if not the best one that I have ever heard!  Give it a listen for yourself and let me know what you think!

0259 - Go Back to the Roots

I haven't done a Funky and Free Friday in some time, so it is time to bring it back to what this day was all about!  First up is a really cool funk track from Mat Zo & The Knocks.  Yes you heard me right.  Combined they produce something seriously mind blowing.  This funky piece of heaven is called Get Down 2 Get Up.  Combined with uplifting funk, deep voice vocals, and an awesome driving bass line, this is a beautiful piece of eargasm.  DONT MISS IT and pick up the free download.

Time for something else free!  This track from Culture Code called Space & Time is actually a really great track in my opinion.  Great tonality bringing in something high pitched and catchy enough to remember, combined with a nice driving bass that really makes it feel like an anthem of sorts.  Pick it up for free and let me know which track you liked better!

0258 - Tear Down the House

The first track up for today is an extremely melodic and catchy track from Soulero.  Seconds away isn't a heavy track in any way, just an extremely well done "happy" house that makes you feel on top of the world.  Combining a very catchy chorus, vocal samples, and just an overall great feeling, this one is not one to miss this summer!  Check it out!

This next song has popped up everywhere lately it seems, I have heard so many remixes of this and a whole lot of them are good!  This one, in my opinion, is the best of the lot.  Galantis did an incredible job making this catchy and easily recognizable track, Tom Staar just kills it with the remix.  The drop isn't everything I wanted but you can't have your cake and eat it too I guess.  Enjoy and come back tomorrow for Funky/Free Friday

0257 - You Can't Leave

So for Halloween I great roposted a great rock/electro track From Le Castle Vania and I recently discovered the second part to that track, Nobody Gets Out Alive Part II.  In celebration of his new EP, he decided to record a second version of the track.  Its a banger through and through.  Great vocal samples but big drops that give it an entirely different feel from Part 1.  Give it a listen and let me know what you think of this one!

0256 - Smooth As Silk

Today's song is absolutely beautiful.  For sure not a club song or a big dance track but one that you for sure can't miss.  Extremely smooth and with chilling vocals that give me the shivers, Favored Nation's remix of Silk by Giselle is expertly done.  Give it a listen, close your eyes, and just let the song take you away to a peaceful place.

Second up is a mindblowingly chill dubstep track from T-Mass.  You all know how much I hated dubstep during my radio show and at the start of this blog, almost as much as still kinda hate Big Room but not really.  Well chill dubstep was the swing in the positive direction for me, and this song exemplifies why I enjoy it so much.  Chill, not overwhelming with dubstep sounds, and great tonality.  Check it out for yourself!

0255 - Glitch Hippidy-Hop

For this Funk Monday I have a great Glitch-Hop song for you.  The Haywyre Remix of 7 Minutes Dead's track Peacock is one that out does the original by a long shot in my book.  This one has everything from chill moments, to chill funky moments, to funk so loud I lose track of time.  The amount of variety in this is incredible and really opens the door for what the genre can do instead of going the sad way that house did.  Give it a listen!

0254 - Cant have Pop Without Funk

Today I  have an amazing Electro Pop song that has a truly surprising amount of Funk.  When I first heard of this genre I nearly skipped it immediately and now I am so glad that I didn't!  Its nice and funky with some truly different and gritty vocals that make the song, without a doubt!  Its a really well done piece by Le P, give it a listen!

0253 - Porter's Comeback

Ever since Sad Machine I have been waiting to see what Porter Robinson Releases next.  The hype for this new album is real, and this song just makes the wait for the album that much more painful.  Lionhearted featuring Urban Cone is seriously a really incredible track.  Its a much different feel then Sad Machine, hopefully meaning the album will have a lot of variety.  Give it a listen, pre-order the album, and all aboard the Hype Train!

0252 - Banger? Are you sure?

Today's song is one that I have had in my playlist for quite some time.  The first time i listened to it I wasn't sure if I like it or not.  It took at least 3 or 4 listenings to appreciate the song fully.  Mikkas and Husman take Fabio Lendrum's track Out of the Water and give it a new strange twist.  This song seems very eclectic at points, but after a few listens the parts all come together very nicely.  Give it at least a listen or two and let me know what you think!

0251 - Saxophone Beauty

The first time I heard this song I could not wait to share it with you all.  Its a truly fantastic piece of music.  The track I am talking about is the Bender Remix of Route 94's My Love.  Its a done with a nice bouncy bass mixed in with some really fantastic saxophone as well as vocals that fit the style so well.  The use of piano really sold me on this one though.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!  If you enjoy it, pick up the free download!

0250 - The Big Quarter!

First of all, Thank you guys so much.  I never would have made it to 250 posts and over 5,000 page views without the enthusiasm and help that you all have given me.  I seriously can't say thank you enough times.  This blog has become my favorite part of the morning, and I look forward to it every day.

The first track I have for you today is a bit on the chill side.  A beautiful remix from Twice As nice of a fantastic chill song from Alice & The Glass Lake.  This one blew me away because it starts off really chill and relaxing and then throws in a really surprising and awesome build up into a really relaxing drop.  Listen to it for yourself!

Second up today is an awesome funky remix from JNL of Viciousi's track Rollo Vice.  This one has all the funky and chill elements that make up a truly remarkable remix.  Nice moving bass, great tonality, and the frequent introduction of new elements to keep you interested throughout the whole song!

0249 - Speed Swing

Funky Friday!  My favorite day of the week :)

Today I have a beautiful remix from Centron of Rob Gasser's NuDisco track, Speed Limit.  Beautifully done with elements that will make you crave more.  The breakdowns in this song blew me away, the chorus had me dancing in my desk chair, and the builds into the drops had me head bobbing the entire time.  This is funky heaven.

Last up is a speedy electro-swing song from SirensCeol.  This one is electro-swing but takes elements from so many other electro sub-genres to make a truly unique song that I can honestly say I have never heard anything like it.  Its really hard to put into words, you should just take a listen for yourself!

0248 - Mental Collision

First up is a throwback Monstercat track, with a sick official remix from Astronaut and Barely Alive.  This Hellberg was one I listened to for a long time after it came out and this remix has just about everything you could want.  Its one of many remixes off the Remix only album from Hellberg & Deutgen vs. Splitbreed and it is a huge one!  I would even go as far as to call it a banger!

Second up is the BeatauCue Remix of SomethingALaMode's track featuring DWNTWN, On My Mind.  Its a really great and bouncy Happy song with really good progression and nice deep vocal stints.  Enjoy this one, and let it take you over!

0247 - My Vote for Remix of the Year

Two Bonuses before we get to the post for today, and then two HUGE songs that you need in your life, including my vote for remix of the year so far.

First up is another Colossalcon set from a killer DJ, Kendo.  An hour long, and it is one of many hour mixes that have been getting me through the work day.  And its full of Monstercat Tracks!

So I know we all hate the song #Selfie by the Chainsmokers, but after laughing my ass off with a roommate last night over the "Fuck Her Right In the Pussy Guy" I found something hilarious.  I'm not going to say anything more than give it a listen, even if you despise the song.  (if you don't know the story he basically made it onto two news stations and said that phrase on live TV)

Fuck Her Right In The Pussy (#Selfie & Freaks Remix)

OK FINALLY ONTO THE POST FOR TODAY!
First up is a sick song from Paris Blohm one of the best artists that I have discovered this year.  Ever since seeing him with Tritonal, I have been following him closely and he has not been disappointing at all.  This new track featuring Taylr Renee is incredible.  The vocals are flawlessly inserted into a great rhythm, fantastic builds, and drops that had me dancing in my car.  Its not one to be missed!

Second up is up for remix of the year in my book.  Tut Tut Child got ahold of Porter Robinson's Sad Machine.  Its flawless.  A perfect remix keeping the chill aspects that Porter wanted while taking it up a notch.  Seriously.  Its the remix not to miss.

0246 - XMFD's Hour

First of all, here is the first of the promised sets from Colossalcon!  Coming from my great friend and mentor DJ XMFD, this is an hour of power and just mind blowing music.  Great song picks, beautiful transitions, with an incredible flow.  Don't take my word for it, press play and listen for yourself!  Music has a way of describing way better then I ever could with words, you just have to hear it for yourself!

Today's track comes to you from Press Play and is an incredible bounce track.  Thankfully I hve a found at least 3 new pages to go to for specifically this kind of music.  I'll be honest.  A whole lot of it is crap.  Vocals with a simple beat put over the top, but some of the originals are pretty great and those are the ones I plan to share with you all.  This one is not overwhelming but the opposite of simple, the tonality doesn't go where you would think it would and that surprised me a whole lot.

0245 - Recovery Time

First things first, I am sorry Friday's post was so late.  I was at Colossalcon and had the post prepared but just honestly forgot until early afternoon to post it.  Also since I have it in with the DJs from that convention, I know they will all be posting at least one of their sets and I will put them up here when I find them and they are uploaded.  I hope you all had a great weekend, and I have some news.  Since Mashups have become more of a burden to find, I am considering making Monday an additional funk day because I think that is what I focus best on!

Kicking off this new schedule I bring you a great song from Hoverboots.  The first time I saw this artist and song title combination I laughed my ass off, and then I was amazed how much I enjoyed the song.  Its different, kinda like Holy Ghost by Savant, in terms of the fact that it doesn't follow the usual formula and may take a few listens to appreciate.  Its really unique though and for sure worth listening to and picking up the free download!

0244 - Chill Week Finale

Last Day of chill week!  I have really enjoyed sharing these tracks with you and thank you for allowing me to dump out my music library all over you beautiful people.  2 final ones for you today.

First up is a Alle Farban remix of Goldfish's track Moonwalk Away.  An insanely chill background track that I love to death.  This is so beautifully done and an incredible take on a song and musical group that I really enjoy listening to their every release.  This is incredible and you honestly can't miss this one.

The final song for chill week is from Crywolf, an incredibly and beautifully composed song that honestly sends me to another plane of existance.  It is so well done and stunningly flawlessly performed in this mix.  This remix is nearly flawless.  Seriously don't miss this one!

0243 - Thirsty Yet?

First up on Day 4 of Chill Week is a exquisite track from Joe Garston, the same guy who brought one of my current favorite songs Quickscope.  This song is absolutely beautiful.  A nice bass combined with elements usually found in more upbeat house songs, this track really took me to a great place, and with the free download you can visit this place whenever you want!

Even though this next one is a little more upbeat then most of the other stuff being shared this week, I would still consider it to be on the chiller side.  Ever since this song dropped I have been a huge fan of it, something about the speed of the tonal progression, much like Charlie Darker's This Automatic, really appeals to me.  Check out the video below and let me know which of these songs you like better!

0242 - Stay the Day

Since Today is usually all about bangers, I tried to bring some in from the chill world.

The first is from Armas.  Easily my favorite genres are Prog House, Funk, and NuDisco.  This, I can honestly say, is the most chill and well done Prog House song that I have heard in a long time, if not the best I have ever heard.  Taking standard elements and slowing them down into something rarely done, Armas really takes this one away and I can easily say this is one of my top songs I have found this year.  Hit play and let it take you away!

The second song for today is a chill remix of a popular song that really changed the way I look at the song.  The introduction of chill elements such as a slow but driving bass mixed with a level of switched tonality really evolve this remix.  Rainer and Grimm take this remix of Sam Smith's Stay With Me to a whole new level, one that I am glad I can be a part of.  You can too, just hit play!

0241 - Alone with Your Girl

I'll be honest, this first song has been sitting in a list for some time, and I have been debating if its good enough to make this blog.  Every time I listen to it, it gets better and better so its finally time to realease it to all you beautiful people.  This is just a chill beautiful song, No heavy bass, No in your face, just calm, beautiful, and worth a listen for sure!

Also on the docket for Day 2 of chill week is one from Reaktion.  One of the most chill dubstep songs I have heard in a long time, if not the most chill I have ever heard.  This one combines a nice steady bass with great movement and pretty nice vocals to tie it all together in a big beautiful musical present just for you, its a free present by the way.  Pick it up for free and I will see you all back here tomorrow for another dose of Chill!

0240 - Welcome to Chill Week!

Due to an overload of chill songs stealing my heart right now, this entire week will be chill week!  Disregard the current schedule and instead get ready for 5 days of chill, funky, free, beautiful tracks (not all songs will meet all these criteria)!

First up is an incredible song from Felix Cartal.  A really unique combination of chill and pop, this Canadian really kicks it up a notch and brings an incredible track to the table.  A slight driving bass, truly great vocals, and just enough build to get you in the mood but still chill and relaxing.  Check it out below!

Second to the plate today is a really mind blowing chill Drum and Bass Song from Rootkit.  Taking DnB on its backside and showing us a side of it that rarely comes about, Rootkit delivers a really beautiful composition.  Great tonality, perfectly selected vocals, and just driving enough to get you into that DnB state of mind.  Enjoy and I will see you back here tomorrow!
