0377 - PROBLEM FIXED, Happy new years!

Sorry everyone.  After dealing with some blogger issues it has finally been resolved, and the issue has been fixed.  So I come to you on the last day of 2014 with a whole lot of stuff.

First, a song i posted a long time ago is now being offered for free. Spaces and Laces - Dungeons and Dragons, you can find the song RIGHT HERE and the free download RIGHT HERE.

Second up is my favorite year long mashup, coming in hot from Dzeko & Torres.  Every year they do the year in a 10 minute long mashup letting them get to 60+ songs without feeling too chaotic and congested.  Its pretty hot this year, featuring some of the best songs of the year and even giving new life to the ones that were overplayed or just downright disappointing.  Overall it sounds really great without feeling overwhelming, and the drop swaps are just sweet.  Including the Demons remix I love by Dzeko and Torres, Hideaway, and so many other tracks.  Give it a listen!

Also I have a tonal Melbourne track for your listening and downloading pleasure.  Reece Low and Trifo present Clissa, a tonal Melbourne track that really gave me hope for the genre again.  Most of the stuff I hear that is Melbourne bounce really has the exact same boring feel to it, but this one mixes in great progression and actual pitching to the bounce. The download button is in the soundcloud box, so pick it up and enjoy it!

Just a heads up!  The monthly thing starts tomorrow and the category is favorite track of 2014, only tracks released in 2014 but I want to hear which ones you guys liked the most!

0376 - Back at last, Back at last

I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday and I am very glad to say that the blog is back to its everyday posting!  Relax this week while you still hopefully have some time off and lets get back into the music!

First up today is a free track from Lush and Simon called Stellar.  The track has their signature feel to it, and mixes in great chill moments along with killer tonality and big heavy bass.  This one would kill at parties, as it is extremely dancable with its smooth house feel.  Overall, an extremely solid track from one of my favorite duos, give it a listen and pick up the download!

0375 - Be My Friend for the Holidays

Tristam returns to us today with a brand new drumstep track, My Friend.  This one has a chilled out feel for most drumstep, and has great levels of tonality throughout the entire track.  The vocals aren't overwhelming and are there just enough to get overshadowed by the rest of the track, not being the dominant part of the song.  Overall, a fabulously chilled out tonal drumstep track that I really enjoy, and I hope you do too!

0374 - Banger All Festive Like

First up today is a new mashup from the kings of the genre in my humble opinion, The White Panda.  These guys have been on my radar from their start, even having parts of the songs as sayings with best friend when shit goes down (OH SHIT).  Their new one combines ODESZA and Blackstreet into a new mashup called Say No Diggity.  Overall an extremely smooth and well executed mashup, though I would have liked to hear a bit heavier sounds a bit more intensity in the track overall.  One that you shouldn't miss on this final hump day of the year!

Also up today is a combination from two of my favorite artists I have have found this year, Elephante covering Bag Raiders.  This original is amazing and then Elephante got his hands on it and just did his own thing.  It still has the signature sounds tonality of the original, but with a noticeable twist on it that screams Elephante.  Give it a listen and I will see you back here tomorrow!

0373 - Funky Funky Funk Funk Funk

Today I have a really spectacular GRiZ remix that feels very jazzy and smooth funk track, one of the most unique and beautiful tracks I have heard in a long time.  It is very good feeling, very all over the place, and just an overall amazing track.  There are vocals, but they are overpowered massively by the bass and the rhythms that come out of a strange funk/moombah/bounce hybrid.  Give it a listen and Happy Grizmas!

0372 - Monday Funkday

Welcome back everyone!  Hope you had a great weekend and a fabulous week ahead.  I know it is finals week and the last week of work before the holidays, so assuming you haven't cut out the internet lets get you some music to help relax your nerves.

Two songs up for you today, the first comes from Prince.  Well it is a remix of his new song FUNKROLL by Chris Lake.  It has a really phenomenal groove and I can see this one absolutely killing it on the club scene.  Great preservation of the original vocal samples leads into a great dance groove that really sets a very smooth a fabulous vibe.  Give it a listen and pick up the free download if you like it!

Second up is a very driving funk track from 95 Royale called Whatever You Want.  Its just driving, has a few very well placed vocal samples thrown in, and an overall groovy feel.  I hope it helps you groove for a little bit while getting through your last Monday (hopefully) before you start your holiday season!

0371 - 1 Year + 6

So I didnt even realize it but this blog has gone through enough posts to get through every day for a year!  I love doing this blog every day and it is because of the feedback and love that I get from all of you that I am willing to do this.  Keep up the commenting, keep up posting music on the facebook page, keep up the love!

Because today is all about celebrating the wonderful community that you have all created, I figured it was fitting to share a Funky Panda Community Mix.  30 Minutes of nonstop funk and groove, this one outshadows all the previous ones.  Plus it gives the community a unique opportunity to show off some of their art and personal art creations.  Give it a listen, stay funky, and have a wonderful weekend!

0370 - Let's Be Kids Again

So today I have a nice 25 minute mix for you from ENM, a channel that has been extremely hit and miss with me lately.  One that releases music pretty frequently, I have found that their chill releases are usually pretty good and their house ones are usually extremely average.  Well today they bring 10 tracks together to form a very solid mix featuring artists like Insan3lik3, Pheeno, and Aether.  Give it a listen and just take today to be childish, be a kid, be amazing!

0369 - Sequential Yearly Review

Back on the train of yearly mashups we have the other big one that comes out every year, the mashup from Isosine.  He is responsible for such masterpieces as Psycosocial Baby (Slipknot/Justin Beiber) and Float on Easy (Avenged Sevenfold/Modest Mouse).  A true king of the mashup genre, he has faced issues due to youtube's copyright laws but always seems to come out the other side with stuff that is better than before.  This year's mashup is really good, featuring 43 of the top songs from the year.  Its a little more relaxing and chill then the past installments, but that doesn't mean the mashup isn't flawless.  Give it a listen and let me know in the comments if you like this one or DJ Earworm's year mashup best.

0368 - 2nd Place Gets 1st

So recently This Song is Sick hosted a remix contest of ODESZA's track Say My Name and the winners have just been announced and the remixes are amazing.  You can listen to the original below if you have not heard it yet.  Its a very chilled out track that  keeps up with vocal sampling and great mixed tonality.  I am only going to share my favorite remix here but if you want the full list you can find it on this song is sick's website Here.

The winner was the remix from The Geek X Vrv and it really does a great job of keeping the mellow tones, but my favorite was the 2nd place recipient, the Luke Shay Remix.  This one completely transforms the feeling of the track while keeping the same tonality and bumping it up a notch to a more House feel.  I abosolutely love the ideas of these remix contests, no matter if the winner recieves a prize or not, because you really do get some of the most original tracks and artists that emerge.

0367 - Monday Means We Didn't Get Enough Sleep

Happy Monday Everyone!  I am sure you are all just as sleepy and exhausted as I am but its time to get back to the grind, be it either work or school so I wish you all the best this week.

Two tracks for you today, the first from Madeon.  Known mostly for Pop Culture, his massive mashup, Madeon has been branching out into some different sounds and this is one I really really like.  Taking a very chill approach, You're On features some very relaxing and driving tones with a great combination of chill vocals.  Its funky in the sense that it moves fluidly, but no where near as funky as song number 2!

Supermans Feinde brings us a really funky track called Shine, filled with all the necessary elements of an amazing funk tracks.  A little dash of vocals, a nice big driving bass, and HORNS!  I LOVE ME SOME HORNS.  But really they bring such a fluid and beautiful sound to funk music and I think that may be why I have been so drawn to Funk the past few years.  Give it a listen and let me know what you think!

0366 - One Last Day

Today's track comes from Shirobon and is a really cool hybrid between chill and 8-bit.  Its an incredibly smooth track, and I know the 8-bit sound isn't for everyone so if you don't like this one it is totally ok...well I guess if you don't want to be awesome.  The high pitches let the tonality really go above and beyond, along with keeping the bass under control and not letting it overwhelm the rest of the track.  Overall it is very groovy and relaxing, a really fantastic 8-bit song that does it without vocals!

0365 - Mashup of the Year. The Whole Year

SO mashups rarely show up on this blog anymore, mostly because its hard to find consistent ones week to week.  However there is one every year that I look forward to, DJ Earworm's United States of Pop.  This years installment features 25 songs mashed up into one 4 minute masterpiece.  Called Do What You Wanna Do, this mashup is extremely fluid, and though I may not enjoy a handful of the songs used, overall the mix is amazingly done.  Transitions are smooth and seamless, pitch is on point, and the variety is just mind blowing.  The video is also mashed together extremely well, with samples from every song thrown in to give it a chaotic feel.  Give it a listen and see how it compares to other installments!

0364 - Orchestral Trapstep

Did that title catch your attention because it sounds complete and utterly insane? Yeah that is what I thought too the first time that I read it.  HOWEVER, the track is by TheFatRat so I decided to give it a chance and then immediately fell in love with it!  I have no idea if it is actually orchestral, but it for sure sounds like a good portion of it could be.  Mixed in with some drums and some distortion, this track really caught my ear as unique and cool.  It has a very epic sound to it, like the bad guy has been defeated and this is the walking music as the heroes come down for the celebration.  For sure worth the listen!

TheFatRat - Xenogenesis (Free Download)

0363 - Goodbye to a Great

So some of you may have heard that Krewella is loosing one of its members, Kris Trindi (aka Rainman).  Both Yasmin and Jahan have not commented on the possible split of the group, but instead released a song to help them talk about it.  In a way this makes a whole lot of sense, music is always such a strong medium and sometimes doing what you love may make more sense then having to go in front of a bunch of cameras and microphones to talk about it.  Krewella has been such a phenominal group over the past few years and I hope that the Yousaf sisters find luck in their next musical project, whether that be something new or just a new addition to the group.

The track is kinda pendulum-like with a Drum and Bass and rock feel at the same time, give it a listen and let me know what your favorite Krewella song is!

0362 - Welcome Back!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and weekend!  So this weekend marked the last home game for Ohio State, and as many of you know they employ me to DJ their dance parties.  Most of the music is not songs I am in love with but it has changed how I view this music.  It doesn't matter that I hate it, what matters is that someone loves it.  Music is all about power, emotion, and standing up on that stage and seeing how people react to big room or top 40 had me in smiles.  It has made me so happy and I am blessed to have had the opportunity.

Lets kick the day off with a just overall good feeling electro track.  Pheeno gives us Open Up, a track that on first listen seems to be all over the place, but after another it all meshes together.  It has very smooth melodic sequences with very glitchy sounds mixed in.  Very happy, very unique, and a phenomenal way to kick off the sad return of Monday.

Numero Dos is a strange Trance/Prog House hybrid track.  From MOGUAI, this one features many aspects of both genres, including classic trance tonality and the progressive house build up structure.  Its a very cool track, one that usually sways entirely toward one genre or another and this one seems to take the best of both to combine them into a really sweet track.  A great way to get this long week underway!

0361 - Way Out of My Element, Well Only Half

I know this is a blog mostly dedicated to electronic music, but I need to share something because it hit me really hard.  Anyone who knows me well can confirm that I am a huge nerd, and although it has been a while since I have seen them, The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies have always been favorites of mine.  With the saga wrapping up and the last movie coming out very soon, a song has been released by Billy Boyd (AKA Pippin) and it is insanely beautiful.  I know this is out of my element musically but I couldn't not share it.

On the electronic music front I have a really sweet mix of an EP from Varien and 7 Minutes Dead called Mirai Sekai.  It features all four tracks on the album and is really a fantastic mix.  The EP is phenomenal and I have been rocking out to it in the car ever since I first picked it up.  Favorite track is either Neo-Seoul or Aeon Metropolis.  Give it a listen and I know you will love it

0360 - SeriouSly Almost Holiday Time

Just a heads up, I haven't decided yet but the posts over thanksgiving (Wednesday through Friday) may only be available on here, as I have no idea what kind of internet connection my grandmother has in Michigan.

This is a very upbeat funky and smooth song from Sir Sly (which I think is absolutely hilarious) called You Haunt Me.  This remix really hits me hard because it reminds me of Some Time Around Midnight, in the fact that its about having trouble letting someone go after the relationship has hit its hardships.  These kinds of songs speak to me and this remix from Idle Earth really has been on my mind the past few days.  Give it a listen and enjoy the start of your short week!

0359 - Friday's Guilt is Gone

Funk is usually just that, and I have yet to this day encountered background funk.  Background is usually a term that applies to chill music, at least in my experience.  This one has a classic 80s/90s feel to it by way of the tonality that seems to come from a percussion marimba of some kind.  Its really funky and smooth and I like it a lot, much different from the funk I usually post on here.

0358 - One More Day Til We Shake The Earth

I'm sorry this week's posts have been so short everyone, in a mixture of being insanely busy and sick yesterday I seem to have about 30 minutes every day.  I will start doing them the night before so that I can have better conversations about the music that i post instead of having to rush it every day in the few free minutes I have every day.

Today I have 2 very smooth track for you.  One original from Elephante, the first original I have heard from him, and a second from Gregory Esayan.  The Gregory Esayan track Titled Monday Night is very smooth and relaxing, with great tonality and an extremely quality flow.  Overall an extremely relaxing track with very futuristic sounds.

Second up is the first original track that I have heard from Elephante, an artist whose remixes I have been obsessed with over the last few weeks.  It has the signature Elephante sound, one that I have really grown to enjoy and it is worth picking up the free download.  Sadly that is all I have time for as I have to run and finish out this 13 hour work day.  Have a great day everyone, and I will see you tomorrow with a much more conversational post tomorrow!

0357 - Get Down With My Sickness

Sorry everyone, this short post comes between Nyquill naps.  Sick with something I hope is only a cold.
One Banger for you today, a remix of a song I have really liked for some time, Virtual Riot's We're Not Alone.  Syntact does a really good job of maintaining and bringing in really beautiful melodic parts while building back into the heavy hitting sections with a few glitchy sections as well.  Pick it up for free!

0356 - Dont be a F.O.O.L.

Today is quick again, sorry guys these 14 hour work days leave me pretty exhausted and pooped with very little time to make these posts, but those crazy work days are done this week!  Praise jebus.

Today's post features F.O.O.L., an artists I haven't features since post 029, but this one deserves to be posted!  A silky smooth song with great tonality that gets stuck in your head, along with bass that is actually pitched and provides a great background for this track.  Soft in the right spots, hitting heavy in the best spots, don't miss this one!

Also from F.O.O.L. is the track Keep On Rocking, another smooth electro song that features a very beautiful build of the same style of Throne, but this one a vocal sample that drops big into the heavy part of the song.  The intro of little pump up lyrics have been big lately, and honestly helping my transition from lyrically obsessed into focussing more on the actual track.  The tonality of this one reminds me a bit of Starcadian, and I like that a lot!

0355 - 6 Month Rewind

Missing the Summer?  The snow is here and its going nowhere.  As much as I love winter I know its not the most popular season so today's track is designed to help you go back to that state of mind.

Majestic gets his hands on the original track Changing by Sigma, who artists I really know very little about.  However the remix is extremely smooth and though it seems a little sped up, overall it has incredible flow with the lyrics.  I would love to see this with like half the vocals, but you have to take what you can get.  A great feeling of summer and may help to warm up your snowy and cold day (at least it is in Ohio).

0354 - Speedy Quick Friday

This one is gonna be fast guys, I am literally on my way out the door to visit my sister.

First up is a smooth and sweet track from Generdyn called Youthful and the name is very fitting.  Its very energetic and has a lot of tonality.  It feels very fun and has the perfect mix of funk and electro mixed in!

Second track for today is a very relaxing track with lyrics reminiscent of Dave Matthews Band who I am not usually a fan of, but the vocal tone really compliments the chose rhythms and tones.  Overall a very smooth funk track that is work listening to, and a sweet guitar solo doesn't hurt either.

Generdyn - Youthful

0353 - Beautiful Fallout

Today is all about beauty in music.  It may not be heavy and in your face but good lord is it absolutely amazing.  In the past I've called it background music, and its usually what I listen to while working or at home while trying to relax and collect myself.  The first is called Flora from Rocket Science and it just inspires such a feeling of peace and tranquility.  It also helps that the silloutte of Calvin and Hobbes is in the video for this song, just taking me back to my childhood and loving every second of it.  Kick up your feet, close your eyes, and let this track take you away.

Last Island has been on my radar ever since their remix of Porter Robinson's Fresh Static Snow (Find it here Post #0333) and this original that they bring to the table is really something special.  The Next really features some great tonality, kinda reminding me of an old 90s computer game like Midnight Rescue or something like that in space (I can't remember the game but it had talking stars) and really flows well.  Give it a listen!

Last track for today is a really beautiful and calming drum and bass track (I know those words are usually contradictory but.............stay with me, I promise this works).  Its great and driving but still maintains the usual chill themes, and catches you by surprise.  Usually DnB means in your face but this one just meshes the two genres together so incredibly well that it is up there in my favorites for chill tracks this month.  Feint, who usually is on Monstercat and known for his heavy hitters, really changes the game and perspective with this one.

0352 - Do You Feel The Need?

Today's post features a banger off of Tut Tut Child's new EP called Ask Your Friends First.  The track is called Hot Pursuit and I really enjoyed listening to it.  Its got great flow and little jumps of both dubstep elements and melodic house elements.  Tut Tut Child is one of the Monstercat artists that I fell in love with from the first song I heard off one of the compilation albums.  This one was a little more than I expected, but hey, you won't catch me complaining about that!

0351 - Glitchy Melodic Bliss

Two Can really delivers with this unique track called Eclipse.  Not only did I think the player was broken during the playing of this song but i had to check back multiple times.  Thats how the song is supposed to sound though and it really gives it a unique and different feel.  Its out of place but in a really relaxing way that changes your view on chill music and the potential that it has as big genre.

Also up today we have someone brand new on my radar named J-Kraken.  This song really blew me away, usually with chill stuff you get a lot of the same but today is all about chill tracks that give a whole new set of expectations to the genre.  This one has such a unique and smooth feel to it that all I want to do is lie next to someone on the beach with a cold beer and feel the sun on my skin and the water on my toes.  Ive made it a happen of falling asleep to music lately, and this one is so peaceful that its for sure on my playlist for tonight.  Let me know what you think of this one!

0350 (treeschvifty) - Do You Think Elephants are MDMAzing?

TODAY IS monday. ew.
Well back to the grind that is adult life and into the great 730-5 work day.  But Monday also means its music time again and I am very ok with that!

Today I have two Elephante Remixes and an amazing mix from a good friend of mine.

Both songs today are remixes from Elephante, who I have been obsessed with ever since his wildly successful remix of Clean Bandit and Lemaitre.  The first is one that I have been listening to for some time and was surprised when I found that I had not put it up on this group yet!  Galantis has been on my radar this year and just hearing Elephante get his hands on work that is so amazing by itself blew me away.  Great vocal build and amazing drop that has me humming it nearly every day since I heard it.  Also from Elephante from today is a great remix of a Penguin Prison track, who I have liked ever since I heard their first chill song Worse It Gets.  Overall, Elephante puts a funky remix on it and gives it a new light.  Its beautiful and I hope you all enjoy this new artist as much as I do!  Pick up the Free Downloads as well!

Also up for today is an hour long mix from my friend Retox, and it is pretty fucking rad.  The first volume of MDMAzing was great but this one was just what I needed to get through the rough 50+ hour work week ahead.  It's smooth and suave and has great tracks I had never heard of before, for sure worth checking out!  Show Retox some love!

0349 - Post-Halloween Halloween

First up today on this much needed friday is a track from Lazer Lazer Lazer and Helix High called Mr. CrackSpider.  It takes samples from that youtube video about what happens when you give spiders different drugs and the kinds of webs they weave.  Its very dark and I honestly wish I had it for my Halloween week posts.  Oh well, it is still very cool and very bizarre but for sure worth checking out!

Second up is a Free Halloween Bootleg Remix album from Whiiite featuring redone versions of both old and new classic Halloween tracks.  Everything from Thriller to The Walking Dead Theme to Jaws.  Since I can't share the entire pack here, THOUGH ITS FREE AND AWESOME, I will share my favorite.  They put the Legendary track Thriller in the hands of one of my favorites, James Egbert.  Its different but still has that classic feel to it.  Give it a listen and check out the rest of the free album!

0348 - 2 Hour Power Tower

So I have some big hour long sets for you today that have been simultaneously blowing my mind over the past two days.

First up is the long awaited hour long halloween mix from RL Grime.  Mixing over everything from Rap to Trap, this mix is something I look forward to ever year.  This year's installment is pretty good, and I wish I had it for halloween but better late then never I guess.  Give it a listen and give it a chance from start to finish!

Second up is an hour mix going in the completely opposite direction.  This one is an extremely chilled out mix of Odesza's favorite songs.  Its all stuff I had never heard before this mix, but I played it while I was working yesterday and it did a wonder on bringing me back into the peaceful world after a long day.  Let me know which hour you like more!

0347 - Month 2 Feat. Drum and Bass

Welcome to the start of month 2 in the new series I am starting.  The chill relaxing month seemed to go really well so I am very excited to announce November's category, Drum and Bass.  I figure we should go a completely opposite direction from the last one in order to try a new experience.  So how this goes is I will list my top 5 from this category and keep it pinned to the Facebook page (Facebook group is here) and I want all of you to either make your own lists on that link or just comment with a great song that fits into the Drum and Bass category!  Lets get to the list

5. Noisia - The Tide
Dark, creepy, and just overall intense, The Tide freaks me out in a good way.  This one is really crazy, especially with the really long intro that features one of the creepiest voices that I have ever heard on a track.  Its fast, intense, and very in your face.  Overall a great track though!

4. Day One - White City
Ever since I heard this one it has been near the top of my list.  Its just a very feel good song with great deep vocals and excellent tonality throughout the entire song.

3. Tristam & Braken - Frame of Mind
I absolutely love this track.  It just struck me from the beginning.  It has stelar vocals, playing into the fast paced rhythms and mixing together extremely well.  This one just always makes me feel really good too, like it is inspiring change.

2.  Fox Stevenson - All This Time
This song has had my attention since the first time I heard of Fox Stevenson earlier this year.  He has such a great way with molding tracks to be exactly unique to his own sound and I have since fallen a bit obsessed with his every release.

1.  Pendulum - The Island Part 1 and 2
Pendulum was one of my first heavy electronic music influences.  It takes me back to high school, sitting in my friend David's basement surrounded by hookah, magic the gathering, pool, and video games while listening to this album.  Part 1 is very energetic and melodic and then Part 2 comes in and turns everything on its head in a completely creative and unexpected way.  This is still my favorite track after all these years mostly because of the sheer amazing construction of the duo, and also because it throws me back to a time where friends and good music were prevalent nearly every weekend.

0346 - Bouncy Bouncy WUB WUB WUB

Welcome to a Melbourne Bounce day!  Full of wubs and and high energy, both of these tracks will leave you wanting more.  Now to be fair, this is a genre I have always had a little trouble getting into.  A lot of the songs are either too simplistic, have no tonal qualities, or all sound the same.  However, in the past few weeks 2 tracks have caught my eye.....ear? I LIKE THEM, THATS ALL THAT MATTERS.

The first is from Toby Green and is called Bolt.  It has an amazing level of excitement, one for sure that I could see in a chase scene in a movie.  It keeps great tonality while still maintaining the elements of Melbourne Bounce!  Give it a listen and let me know if you like this one!

Something I have really been taking notice lately that very few people do is give tonality to their bass lines.  It makes the song more dynamic and gives it more layers to analyze while listening to it.  This Aidan Dao called Cosmic really is a smooth track that doesn't feel as in your face as a lot of Melbourne Bounce usually does.  I like this one a lot and smooth tracks like this are what are brining me back around to the graces of the genre.

0345 - Where Be Your Mama?

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!  I got to see Alesso, Art, A-track, and Zeds Dead.  Arty and Alesso out played the other 2 so well, and it was really a blast to see them live.

Today I would like to talk about something and then share a little music.  It's funny how an idea can evolve into something so amazing, it may just be something clever you do to pass the time when your wife/girlfriend/parents aren't home.  But if it is unique enough it can expand and grow until it takes over and becomes a sensation.  I am talking of course about this video:
This of course get popular because how the hell could it not?  A dad in a suit jacket and sunglasses playing the trombone and his son in Pajamas and sunglasses banging the oven door closed to provide the bass, its the kind of thing a mom would put both guys in the doghouse for.  As catchy as the song it, the video helps to make it just from the kids reactions during and at the end of the clip.  This was clearly made to entertain these two guys and maybe piss off mom a little bit.  However, it turned into an internet sensation (and may or may not be my ringtone right now) spawning full version songs to be created like these two.  Overall I know it may just be an internet fad, but holy shit does it make me laugh and pee my pants every time the original clip ends and the kid throws his head up.

0344 - Happy Wubaween!

Happy halloween everyone!  Spooky scary skeletons, sweet mixes, and plenty of whatever your vice may be (candy, adult beverages, whatever floats your boat).

First up today is a mix from one of my good friends, Goofy.  Its an extremely solid 11 song mix that tops out just over an hour and is perfect for your halloween celebrations!

Also up today is a sweet remix of Michael Jackson's legendary song Thriller!  Its pretty smooth with a moobah feel and great samples and placement of the original vocals.

Short and sweet today.  Have a happy halloween!  Stay safe and have fun!

0343 - The Missing Piece

If you want some more halloween tracks, be sure to check out last years big post HERE featuring amazing stuff.

This halloween we need to celebrate in style so tomorrow I have a sweet mix from a good buddy of mine, someone who I have mixed with on multiple occasions and is extremely talented.

One of my favorite spooky tracks that I have been listening to for the past year that for some reason has never made it onto this blog is another Le Castle Vania tracked called Raise The Dead.  Its a sweet mix of electronic and rock.  Its pretty intense and for sure an extremely heavy track!  Has a very scary and crazed feel to it which feels right at about this time of year.  Start getting spooky and give it a listen!

Another great track from an artist I love to hear new stuff from is Project 46 with Jigsaw.  Its a sweet electo house song with samples from Jigsaw from the Saw series.  They are perfectly inlaid with the beats and provide a real element of discomfort.  The tonality is pretty high but the laugh and the creepiness really switch it around entirely from how the feel should usually feel.  Give it a listen and let me know what you think!

342 - 3 Spooky 4 You

Finally found some halloween tracks!  Time for some super spooky tracks over the next few days!

Today what I have for you is a really bizarre track from the Aphex Twins.  When I say bizarre, I am talking even more bizarre than one of my favorite tracks by Savant, Holy Ghost.  This one has a very strange appeal to me that I can't quite put my finger on but I like it.  Not to mention the video is pretty twisted and for sure appeals to the halloween spirit.

Plus here is a really funny article talking about if DJs were the adams family.

0341 - Love Your Life

Originally had this slated for 10 am but had to rush to a school to help with Ohio State applications that are due Saturday.  Oh well, better late then never!  In honor of Dzeko and Torres absolutely killing it at the Carnage show in Columbus last week, I give you one of their new remixes.  This one is a remix of Little Daylight's track My Life.  What got me was the tonality did not go where I expected it to, the drop threw me off and I love when music does that.  Overall, a pretty great remix, some may say it sounds a bit generic, but I like it alot.  If you do too pick up the free download!

0340 - Short Phone Post

Sorry guys, the post is short today.  The power is off at my office so I am doing this from my phone.  Can't let you guys down!  This is just a really enjoyable song I found over the weekend, great feel and smooth as shit.  Keep your eye on Hotel Garuda!

0339 - Don't Sleep Alone

So I get home from a nearly 11 hour work day and arrive back at the fraternity house where I work, and they surprised me with a ticket to see Carnage.  We get there around 11 only to find out that Dzeko and Torres were the opener.  The show was amazing, and was absolutely a blast.  Once again, as seems to be the case with shows that I go to, the opener outperformed the headliner.  Running on 3 hours of sleep, exhausted, I bring you Friday's music.

First up from Styalz Fuego and Stuck Note is Wait Up, a great slow trap song with a very funky and chill vibe.  Its great vocals that you can never seem to actually hear all the way, which gives it a very unique feel.  Great catchy tonality mixed with a driving trap sequence really takes this one over the top and into my heart.  Give it a listen and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

A bit slower is JNL's track By Yourself, but it still has such a smooth feel.  It feels slower but at the same time it feels fast enough to bob your head to and enjoy the chill funk.  Great distorted vocals mixed with a very driving bass.  For sure not to be missed!

0338 - Elemental Reverie

Two big tracks for you today on this day before Friday.

Been doing more delving into non-vocal stuff and I think I have found two really great things for you.  The first is a Trance song from Lush & Simon and Uforik called Hydrogen.  Usually trance strikes me as generic and all the same but this one spoke to me very clearly.  It has great tonality and an overall exceptional flow.  Bass in all the right places mixed in made this a very surprising track!

Up second on the docket of today's musical agenda is a great progressive house track from Pessto and Drik B.  I had honestly never heard of them until this track, but this will for sure keep them on my radar.  A great tonal track with a driving theme to it, Reverie has a sense of urgency that gives it a really great energy!

0337 - Banger With Chords

Today's banger comes from two amazing artists, and Deadmau5 is easily one of my first heavy influences into electro music.  Deadmau5 released a song not too long called Some Chords, and Dillon Francis got his hands on it and remixed it.  It still carries that unique Deadmau5 sound and themes but Francis gave it a hell of a twist turning it into a banger of epic proportions.  Give it a listen and rock out to get through your Hump Day.

0336 - Tropical Swoon

First of all some music news.  The Gorillaz are coming back and have plans for a new album after being on hiatus since 2012.  Though details are very flimsy, the album is announced with no release time but the hope is for new songs starting in 2015.

Ever since the Rage of Kygo started, Tropical House has become the big thing for this year in my opinion.  A good amount of it has been enjoyable to listen to, and while researching top artists in this genre I stumbled upon Thomas Jack.  Now lets be clear, Kygo is still my favorite by a long shot in this genre and style but Thomas Jack is not bad.  This remix he did of MYNGA's track Back Home is pretty stelar.  Give it a listen!

Also on tropical house day amazing remix of Stand By Me from Shemce.  Its a very smooth song with an astounding flow.  Tropical flow just takes deep house to a whole new level and I love finding new artists.  Both of the ones on this post are for sure ones to look out for!

What do you think of tropical House or are you just a fan of Kygo?

0335 - The Fish is a Phoenix

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!  Today I bring you a remix from Goldfish, a really suave and smooth remix of Sugar Man by Rodriguez.  The song does the original justice, really creating a smooth and enveloping sound that will bring you into a great state of mind.  It keeps the gritty vocals and mixes in a very funky bass line.  Overall, a phenominal remix from Goldfish who are usually known for their high energy and now we see the opposite end of the spectrum.

I also have a big mix to share with you all.  If are fans of Two Steps From Hell like I am, then you may have already heard this, but it needs to be shared.  If this is the first time you are hearing of TSFH, imagine orchestral boss battle music.  YEAH, BOOM!  This is a one hour mix of the best of Nick Phoenix, and it is amazing!  Give it a listen and I will see you back here tomorrow!

0334 - Final Form Funk

End of the week finally!  And of course that means a funk track!

Today's comes courtesy of Anzo.  I have been doing my best to find smooth tracks that don't have unfitting and unnecessary vocals and then thankfully I stumbled upon this gem!  Smooth with great flow, the instrumentation and overall feel of No Talking is superb.  Driving with great tonal variations this one will for sure kick your weekend off in the right direction!

Also!  A big thank you!  As I am writing this, the blog has hit 7,500 views!

0333 - Half Satan

I know we have a little over a week until the week of Halloween but I want to guarantee you all that I will do my best to find Halloween themed stuff for the entire week.  It may not all be new, but it will be cool I promise you that!

Onto the music for today!

The first is a remix from The Him of Dotan's track Home, a very relaxing a smooth remix.  This one has driving elements and very classic sounding vocals, not really all about the pitch or talking about ridiculous things.  Its stuff that plays the whole time and even fits the very nice and soothing drop.  Give it a listen and let me know what you think!

The other song up for today is the Last Island Remix of Porter Robinson's Fresh Static Snow.  I heard this one before I heard the original of it, and I honestly am drawn to this one a bit more.  Its got great driving chill sound, that flows really well and feels like it should be an end credits song in either a movie or a video game.  Give it a listen and find out for yourself!
