0321 - Countdown to Something Different

So I want to try something new today.  The reason I love this blog is because you all get involved and share your favorite music the same way I share mine.  So I am introducing top lists that I want everyone to help expand and update.  Each month on the first day of the month I will release one or two documents containing my own personal top 5 list for a certain genre.  In addition to my list, I ask that you write your own as well!  Add your favorite songs from that genre, or even just songs you are really enjoying.  Sometimes I find that even generic songs are great every once in a while.  My personal list will be posted here, as well as the master list which will be in the Facebook group.  If you aren't a member of it, please join!  This will start tomorrow and the first category is Relaxing/Chill music!

Onto the music for today.

3LAU is one of those artists where I seem to be drawn to his work.  Everything from Dance Floor Filth mashups to his current work, he continues to amaze me with his work.  This remix from Skrux really gives his work a whole new vision as it really is beautifully done.  Super relaxing, keeping the great vocals, and maintaining the originality, this remix is really spectacularly done.  Give it a listen and overall decide for yourself.

0320 - Start that Monday Mile

Today's track on this funky monday is a silky smooth remix from Urban Contact of Freedom Fry's track Wilder Mile.  The original has a feel like Of Monsters and Men, but this remix has such a unique and funky smooth feel to it that I can't resist sharing it with you all.  Its nice and driving while still maintaining the feel of the original.  For sure worth a listen!

0319 - Vibes From The Castle

Today we have two tracks full of funk and flavor.

The first one was given to me by my friend Molly, and just oozes funk.  This one is nice and driving, keeping the bass consistent throughout the entire track and then taking it up a notch with the great tonality and piano interludes.  You guys all know how much of a sucker I am for piano in electro tracks.  Give it a listen, and check out the rest from Bag Raiders.  PLUS HORNS. OH GOD THE HORNS.

Second up on super Funky Friday is a great smooth track from Armin Cekin.  Great funk combined with a little glitchy flavor that really makes a sweet combination.  Reminds me a bit of the song Skrillex did for Wreck It Ralph crossed with a sweet smooth funk track.  I like it, I love it, I want some more of it.   Have a great weekend everyone!

0318 - Prelude to the Weekend

The song I have for you today is a very driving track and I think its pretty unique in the fact that most tracks today focus on the vocals or bass to make or break a song, but this one is all about the tonality.  Michael Calfan's track Prelude does this beautifully.  It may not be the most thrilling song, or an anthem, but it is a beautifully done track that I really enjoyed.  I hope that you enjoy it just as much as I did!

0317 - Anchor Yourself To The Beats

Banger Wednesday is here and ready to get you moving on this Hump Day!

First up today is a really beautiful anthem, with an extremely positive message about how people can open your eyes.  Andrew Rayel just released a slew of tracks and in my opinion this is the best one.  One In A Million features killer vocals from Jonathan Mendelsohn mixed in pretty flawlessly with smooth progression and a very nice melodic drop.  This is one of my most played songs right now!

Second up is a huge new song from powerhouse Tritonal.  This one is called Anchor, and it honestly surprised me a little bit.  The way the vocals and tonality mix in the beginning is very generic and I was worried the entire song would be that way.  In a way it is, but Tritonal gives it their own flair and takes this one to the next level.  Great melody, great vocals, excellent musical diversity make this a track that I expect to see in club and festival sets soon!

0316 - Madeon's Glorious Return

Madeon is Back.  You likely know him from his mind blowing pop culture live mashup on a beatpad.  That video blew my mind open into the insane and crazy talented world or mixing songs live right there on the spot, and I fell in love with beatpad mixing right there.  His new song is out of the blue, since it has been nearly 6 months since we have heard anything from him.  This one is heavier than his usual, but still has that unique flair that he gives to tracks.  There is also a rumor this may be off an upcoming album!  Give it a listen and enjoy!

0315 - Swing Like You Mean It

Today I have a really incredible electro-swing track for you.  If you are big into the genre, then the name Jamie Berry should not be something brand new  If it is new to you and you like electro-swing, let me just blow your mind for a second.  Grandiose is a smooth track that has a perfect level of bouncy and funk, mixed in with some old sounding vocal samples.  The song is near flawless and the perfect mix of old and new left me hitting the replay button at least 3 times after the first time I heard it.  I hope it has the same impact for you!

0314 - Smooth as Silk

First up today is a sweet Drum and Bass track (told you there would be more) from Fox Stevenson.  Everything I have heard from Fox has been mindblowing, and I would say in my book he is the most consistent in terms of enjoyment out of every song.  This one is called Manage and sounds purely excellent.  Usually DnB doesn't fit on Funk day, but this one has such a unique feel that I think there is a little funk in there.

Second up is a suave smooth remix from Keljet of EVVY's track Collide.  I love this track, its extremely fluid, kind of in the Kygo sense of chill remixes.  This one has a funk bass line though and that gives it a very unique feel as opposed to most other relaxing remixes.  The vocals are stellar and the song never drops in terms of energy, intensity, or pure bliss.  This is one of my favorite chill/funk remixes to date.  Give it a listen and feel the energy flow through you on both of these tracks!

0313 - Relax the Thursday Away

Two extra smooth tracks for you today.

The first is a Drum and Bass track (I don't do enough of these) that has a truly beautiful melodic opening and interludes.  Smooth vocal samples and a driving bass line that plays in all the right places of the song.  Its relaxing but driving at the exact same time, with both parts of the song inspiring different feelings among the listener.  Give it a shot and enjoy!

The second is just a really smooth background chill track.  Full with relaxing melodies and the perfect mix of vocals and tonality to keep you mind wandering and relaxed.  Give it a listen as a break from a hard few work hours, and imagine it taking you away to a beautiful plane of perfection.

0312 - Follow Me, The Bangers Are This Way

Two big bangers for you today!

The first is the new one from Cash Cash called Surrender.  Known for their vocals, Cash Cash's track has stellar vocal work mixed in really well with a great progression.  A great drop combined with kinda glitchy sounds all adds up into a really phenomenal track!

Second up and my favorite track of the day, is a sweet song from Disco Fries and Gazzo.  Great job isolating the vocals to make them stick out, mixed with a really just powerful feel that courses through your veins and makes you feel strong.  The tonality of this song is impressive and honestly surprised me, but thats just my opinion.  Give it a listen and decide for yourself!

0311 - Its Electronic, Not That Other 311

Today, the Mashup day long forgotten makes its return with two, one that is usually completely out of my wheelhouse.  As many of you know, Monstercat Music has been high on my list of favorites for some time.  They are actually celebrating their 3 year anniversary and got Didrick to do a live compilation remix of the best songs from their biggest tracks.  Featuring 78 songs and live music from beatpads to trumpets to guitar solos, this mashup is one of the best I have heard in a damn long time.  Celebrate their success and give this mashup a listen!  Bonus points for identifying songs!

Next up is a really cool mashup that is completely out of my wheelhouse.  This day used to be about mashups as a whole, not particular to electronic music.  I found a really cool one yesterday that takes 23 amatuer videos from youtube and mashes them up into a much better track.  Everything from a sick trombone to a little girl playing the piano, this video turns individual acts into a unique combination!  Listen for yourself!

0310 - Push on, Its Monday

Funky monday brings us the start to a new week and a really smooth driving track for you.  Oliver $ and Jimi Jules bring a very smooth and melodic track that is sure to keep you motivated to get through the day.  Its nice and driving and all the elements come together in great fashion.  Not to mention, the video drives home the fact that anyone should dance from when they are young until they grow old.  Thats how influential music should be in everyone's life!

0309 - Better Late Then Never

Guys I am so sorry.  I was downtown all day for work and then everything after got so complex so fast that I haven't had a second to myself until just now.  Its been insane, working two full time jobs is going to be the end of me! (or at least my social life)

Well a plus is that I will be DJing my first even tomorrow!

Today's track is one from Overwerk, and to be honest it took me a few listens to really get this one.  It starts off really smooth and orchestral, sounding nothing like the kind of music this youtube channel usually posts.  Then it drops into such a smooth electro house beat that I lost my shit.  Its beautiful, smooth, funky, and a wee bit bouncy.  Give it a listen!

0308 - Zo-most the Weekend

Today's track is smooth and beautiful.  Coming from Mat Zo, a true powerhouse, and the remix brought to you by Estiva, this one will leave you wanting more.  A little bit bouncy bass, mixed with really nice vocals, and a chill background.  Then it transitions into a very electro house drop, that I honestly didn't expect and I didn't know how much I wanted it.  So much love and so much wubs you can just feel radiating from the speakers.

0307 - Dance Forever, Just Don't Stop

First up on this Banger Wednesday is a sick track from Cazzette.  Beam me up is very smooth, has great vocals, and a sweet vocal drop into the banger drop.  I think what makes this track for me though is the music video, its a documentary style video about how everyone just started spontaneously dancing one day.  Its worth checking out for sure!  Give it a listen!

Second up is a chill banger, one with a really rocking style.  Manila Killa got his hands on Dawn Golden's track All That I Want and turned it into an entirely new fantastic piece.  He has great great chill vocals mixed with a very chill constantly moving rhythm, and a chorus that would work perfectly in a chill set.  Listen to it and decide if you like it for yourself!

0306 - Circle Up Boys and Girls

Sorry guys the post today is rushed and late, the day is busy!
I have a really great song for you today, it has been literally stuck in my head for a few days and I can't get it out.  Circle Track by Arston has great vocals, a killer build up, and a drop that I think would bring Festivals and Sets to a whole nother level.  Its a great track and I can't get it out of my head.  Give it a listen and find out for yourself!

0305 - The Morning after the day before tonight

Back to the real world.
Over the weekend I went to a convention, and had the opportunity to DJ with my buddy Goofy for a few hours until like 4am.  We had a blast, and I recorded some of the mixes I did.  I went back in yesterday to listen to them and maybe edit them a bit..........the files had no audio for some reason.  Thankfully Traktor saves the playlists and I am hoping to remix them either tonight or at least this week.  Look forward to that at the start of next week.

Onto the music!

Today's track is brought to you by the letter F.  F stand for Funk *YAAAAAY*.
The Noisy Freaks have been making moves lately like nobody's business, releasing a constant stream of tracks that seem to blow me away.  Tonight is no different, it has great funk rhythms, great breakdowns, and a very surprising but fitting guitar solo.  Give it a listen!

0304 - Free Finale

Friday is finally here, and I hope you all have a great weekend planned!
Sadly that means it is the last day of free week, and today I have a great song and a bit of a controversial one.

The first track up for today is from two artists of the Pretty lights Label, Michal Menert and Elliot Lipp called Victory.  This track is hot, smooth, a bit on the funky side, and has the level of excellence that one has come to expect from Pretty Lights label.  Its very relaxing but can for sure have the opposite effect as long as you are in the right frame of mind.  Give it a listen and pick up the free download courtesy of This Song Is Sick!

The second song I have for you is one that has sparked some controversy.  Many regard it as underwhelming and lazy, while people say its hot and the anthem of the summer.  It's Hardwell and W&W's new collaboration, The Dance Floor is Yours.  Personally I don't know yet, its not my favorite track but I wouldn't say its horrible.  It has good tonality but it comes off kinda generic.  It honestly sounds like nothing new, which isn't always a bad thing.  No matter our opinion I am sure it will kill at festivals and in sets, so give it a listen and pick up the download if you like it!

0303 - Free Wubs For All The Bubs

As you all know, I am not a huge fan of Dubstep.  I like a few tracks, but the majority of it is like big room to me, either too simple and boring or super chaotic and unnecessary.  Melodic Dubstep is a totally different story in my book.  Not so in your face, great tonality, while still keeping the Dubstep style.  The Only by Synchronice is just that, a beautiful turned-down dubstep track that keeps you head bobbing through the vocal samples and the very well executed drop.  Give it a listen and you just need to follow on twitter to pick up the free download!

Second up today is a free Monstercat Track from Razihel, a dubstep track from the complete end of the spectrum.  This one has a great feel, isn't over glitchy, still maintains tonality, and has portions that come off very house.  I really enjoyed this one, and I hope that you do too!

0302 - Bangers Should Always Be Free

Bangers today, and they hit hard and heavy.  The first is a free release from Martin Garrix, a big antherm called Proxy.  It was a free release as a thank you for the last year of success.  This one hits hard and heavy and the intensity stays throughout the entire track.  Give this track a try and pick up the download if you like it

Martin Garrix - Proxy (Free Download

Second track up for today is yet another remix of Clean Bandit's Rather Be, and I will stop posting them when they stop being good.  This one is a really cool remix/rework, doing some fade out rework, some altering of the tonality while keeping the main line in place.  A really nice progressive remix and worth the pick up!

0301 - Just Wait. Your Hero Is Coming

Welcome to day two of free week!

Today's first track is a remix of Hero, the breakout Pegboard Nerds hit that is one of many songs to help get Monstercat music on the map.  Nick Thayer gets his hands on this track and does something really cool with it, transitioning it into a very different sound.  Keeping the great build that makes the original great, he staggers the introduction stuff and turns the drop into much more a dubstep feel.  It still easily has the energy of the original, but gives it a new spin that just sounds so fluid.  Give it a listen and pick up the download!

Second up is the Elephante remix of Lemaitre's track Wait.  Elephante seems to keep popping up everywhere I look and his stuff never seems to disappoint.  This remix is very NuDisco and has a fantastic flow as well as mixing in of the great happy vocals.  It makes it a little heavier while still keeping the great tonality in check.  A truly great NuDisco remix!

0300 - Thank You, I Love You, Have Some Free Stuff

300 Posts and I honestly can't think of a thing I would rather do every morning.  Sharing music with you all is such a pleasure and I can only say thank you so many times but I will continue saying it.  This means the world to me, that you come back and enjoy talking about music here.

I LOVE YOU ALL.

The best way to celebrate is with a week of free tracks, we wont keep to the normal schedule but it will be free songs every day.

First up is a remix of one of my favorite tracks currently, Sleepless by Cazzette.  To be fair, the original is hard to compete with but this one dues a damn good job of trying to meet the bar set by the original.  Its chill with a bit of a future bass feel and not one to be missed, because remixing such a flawless track is hard to live up to, but this one comes damn close!  Give it a listen and make your own opinion!

Second up today is a sweet song from JackLNDN along with more information about his upcoming EP.  I am really excited for this EP because I have posted stuff from him before and I really like his style.  The EP is called Summer never ends and I will keep you posted on information that I find.  The track though is fantastic combining deep house sounds along with some really smooth and sexy saxophone.  Give it a listen and pick up both of these free tracks!
