0419 - Beautiful Finale

The finale of Beauty in music weeks brings two of my favorite artists right now together.  The Magician has a power with originals and Elephante is the king of remixes right now.  They have done remixes of each other in the past but this is my favorite without a doubt.  Sunlight has amazing flow, and Elephante just gives it an even more unique feel with a bouncy remix.  Give it a listen!  Thanks so much for participating this week guys, it means the world!

0418 - I Can't Let You Go

Beauty in music week continues with a really beautiful track that blew me aways the first time that I heard it.  I subscribe to a lot of youtube channels to get new music daily and one that never seems to produce anything mind blowing finally came through with this gem.  Echos delivers a hauntingly beautiful track with vocals that gave me chills the first time I heard them.  Not only is this their own track but it is their own remix of their own song.  This one is beauty in a chill big drop shell that I love.

Beauty can also come from a connected experience and translate through a song that may have been playing or one that describes your emotion.  To me, that song and today's anniversary line up too perfectly.  It is a song I was listening to 4 years ago, a song that connects me to one of the best men I have ever know, and a song that has so much beauty to me personally that I can't even put it into words.  Even though it may not fit the theme of electronic, I don't care because this one has more beauty to me than anything else.

0417 - Beautiful Bangers

Since Wednesday is all about banger tracks, I am going to do my best to display my visions of beauty in them.  The first is a repost, but is the song my mind jumps to when I think of this kind of thing.  Chapeau Claque and Pretty Pink come together to make Schoner Moment, a beautiful song with german lyrics.  Translated, the chorus reads something truly wonderful: "I've got a song on my lips, / a melody in my head / My feet bounce to the beat, telling me the pace / I've got a song on my lips / a melody in my head / My feet bounce to the beat, this has rarely happened before / Such a beautiful moment / Such a beautiful moment."  This song just always puts me in a phenomenal mood and I hope you like it as much as i do!

Also in line today is one of my favorite songs of all time, Wait by Adventure Club.  Now I know this is not a new song in any sense, but it has beauty written all over it.  The song has incredible vocals mixed with stellar tonality and just the perfect amount of heaviness.  One of my favorite tracks, and I share it with you today in this week of Beauty.

0416 - Beauty In Music Week

So after listening to the song I posted yesterday over and over a lot of times, I realized we need to take a week to appreciate the beauty in music.  Music can carry so much emotion and power, and I will try to share all of that with you all.  I will do my best to try to cover many genres, so strap in!

Today, instead of focusing on one song, I would like to focus on one man.  Ronald Jenkees was introduced to me in college and he has so much power in his songs.  One of the few men to actually compose a lot of his stuff before making it, his songs have so much passion and beauty in them that it was hard for me to pick just one.  The first one I ever heard was his remix of Cannon in D, and the beauty of the song hit me so hard.  I looked up a few more of his songs and found Stay Crunchy.  It may seem eclectic at first but after a few listens you can really feel the passion and power behind it.  My favorite track by him though is his remix of Red Lemonade.  The song is intense, and you can just feel the energy from it.  Give these tracks a listen and let me know what you think!

0415 - Golden Melody

Music can have a lot of elements that make it unique, but above all, beauty holds a very high standard for me.  Yes, some songs are good because they hit hard, make you dance, or just groove, but beauty in music speaks to me in a language that very few people have ever been able to communicate.  That is why I love to mix dance music, but if you ever catch the music I listen alone, you may be surprised.  I listen to heavily melodic stuff (more along the lines of tropical house, funk, and downtempo).  This song hit me in a surprising way, at least half the song is chill with vocals that have emotion behind them accompanying the melody.  It does pick up into a really nice drop that doesn't feel forced, and keeps the melody from the beginning.  Overall a phenomenal track and for sure worth your time.

0414 - Funk's Expected Weekly Return

Solidosco is back but this time with an original.  I haven't heard from Solidisco since I posted them back in April of last year (See that post here), but this original from them kills.  Called Unreal, its got a phenominal groove with big bass and vocal work intertwined in an extremely slick manner.  The highs, the lows, the whole song is just incredible.  Give it a listen and let me know what you think!

Also up today is a remix of Dillon Francis's track called We Make It Bounce.  The remix is by Mike Emilio and does a really great job of mixing bounce and funk into a really unique track.  The vocal work from Major Lazer does wonders for the more relaxed times, and then the introduction of horns for the builds and drops really gives it a funky feel.  Who knew these two could come together with such a sweet song!

0413 - Can You Handle the Power Hours?

About 2 hours of music for you today.  Maybe you are out of school, out of work, or still walking in the cold to class, thats why I decided to give you one track and two lengthy mixes to help you get through the insane day.  First is a track from Kakk Noire called Love Lines, its got vocals that are very relaxing, mixed very well with chill parts and transition into a nice heavy drop.  The first few times I listened to it, it seemed like the vocals were off by half a beat but after a few listens I realized this was done on purpose.  It lines up when it needs to, and overall its a pretty good song!

Hour long mixes give DJs a chance to shine, a chance to showcase their talents where an individual song may not let them.  Today I have 2 for you, the Best of Monstercat 2014 and Stadiumx's 2014 Year Mix.  Best of Monstercat of course contains the most popular Monstercat tracks from the year and has an amazing collection of tracks and flow.  Stadiumx brings another bit mix to the table with his 2014 mastermix.  Though only featuring 9 tracks, the mixing quality is pretty top notch and he makes each one feel like it flows flawlessly into the next.  Overall, a truly good end of the year mix!  Give everything a listen and I will see you back here for Funky Friday!

0412 - Is Your Flosstradamus Like Nostradamus?

Banger Wednesday is always my second favorite day to post for beside Funky Friday, and today I have 2 really cool tracks for you.  The first is a genre that is very poorly represented on this blog, mostly because I am not a huge fan of it, and that is Trap.  However, Flosstradamus has been one of my favorites ever since Total Recall, one of my favorite songs to date.  Flosstradumus teamed up with TroyBoi to make Soundclash, a trap song that has really good flow.  Good vocal samples, a nice driving beat, and actual melody.

Second track up today is from Hunter Seigel called Let Me Love You Right.  This song is very unique in the fact that it sounds like a hybrid of future house and many other genres.  It has the feel of  future house but with a huge bass, drops that are usually too intense for the genre, and a very unique bounce.  Overall this song caught me by surprise and I hope you like it as much as I did!

0411 - Demons Can Dance Too

Two tracks for you today, one coming from Paris Blohm and the other from Riggi & Piros.  Paris Blohm has always surprised me, always showing up at shows I didn't know he would be at and occasionally outplaying the headliners.  I've always enjoyed his originals, and his new one called Demons featuring Charles is no exception to the rule.  Great vocals mixed with stellar tonality and a drop big enough to catch people off guard.
Second up is Riggi and Piros, a duo that I knew absolutely nothing about before hearing this song.  The song came out on Armada's youtube page, a page that usually houses the same trance song over and over with a different name.  Every once in a while though you get something unique and good, and I think Keep Rockin did that for me.  A good build, a good drop that feels like it should be big room, but feels much more complex than those drops usually are.  Give both of these songs a listen and tell me what you think!

0410 - Manic Monday

Isosine is back with another long mashup, 26 songs in 13 minutes.  I love these long mashups because it gives them so much more freedom, and jumping styles in the middle is encouraged.  This one really brings some crazy segments together, and watching the video really helps to set the mood because he mashes up the music videos as well.  Also its nice that he puts the songs currently played in the bottom left so that everyone can follow along.  Altogether, a great mashup with diversity, excitement, and chill elements.

Also today I have one of the weirdest songs I have ever heard for your beautiful ears.  I can't tell what I think about this song.  Its annoying, catchy, bizarre, and for sure unique.  It uses distorted vocal samples as a lot of the tonality, and at points its annoying but at others its very cool.  Overally a very strange song and I wanted your opinion on it!  What do you think?

0409 - Rock Out The Funk

Sorry the post is late today everyone, I was at Ohio Wesleyan all day and had no internet access.  Lets get to the music!  A nuDisco filled day awaits you with track from Crush Effect.  Rock It Out from Crush Effect is very smooth, relaxing, and groovy.  With very minimal vocals, they don't try to take away from the music.  This allows for a very atmospheric track, one that just takes your mind to a whole new place!  Give it a listen and pick up the free download in the player!

0408 - Feel the Passion

So I am very excited that Madeon will be touring the country coming up and dropping his first album!  I know some friends of mine are going to the show in Cleveland and I will for sure be at the show at the Bluestone in Columbus!  I am very excited because I have been following him very closely ever since that first mashup he did, Pop Culture, live on a beatpad.  I had never seen anything like it and knew that he would be someone I would follow for some time. His new music is phenomenal, and I can not wait to hear the rest of the album!  This one is called Pay No Mind and features Passion Pit, an unexpected but very beautiful combination and collaboration.

0407 - Cant get it out!

So I have had the rhythm to Rattle by Bingo Players stuck in my head non stop for the last like 4 days and its driving me insane.  The song is decent in my opinion, and the addition of Far East Movement for the official remix adds a new element to it.  I am not saying its an amazing song but I can't fucking get it out of my head so LISTEN MY CHILDREN.

Now onto the song I actually wanted to share today.  Henry Fong has been putting out some surprisingly good stuff lately, and his new Bounce track has a really nice disco element (just one) to it and sounds really groovy.  Bouncy, danceable, melodic, this one has all the things that make bounce a good genre instead of generic.

0406 - IS IT SUMMER YET?

As much as I love the Winter, I woke up this morning hoping for 75 degrees and sunny.  That put me in a summer mood, so today I have a summery tropical house track for you.  This one has been played a lot since I found it, as it always seems to relax me and calm me down from all the crazy shit going on in my life right now!  Tobu and Jordan Kelvin James really do a phenomenal job of portraying the feeling and happiness of summer through this song.  It puts me in a great mood and I hope it does the same for you!

0405 - The Error is Gone, It's Safe to Come Out

Good News!  I got my mixer back from Sam Ash!  So this means I can get back to working on the progressive funk mix I had going, and hopefully have it ready by the time we hit 10k page views!

Originally today I was going to play Isosine's new mashup but the more and more I listen to it, the more I really just don't have any idea what the fuck it is.  Give it a listen yourself and tell me if it makes any sense to you.

Isosine - The Perfect Drug (Taylor Swift vs. Nine Inch Nails)

Instead I decided to focus today on a bouncy and really stellar song from Razihel, on the Monstercat Label.  This one has great tonality and doesn't overwhelm you with the heaviness of the bass, which is usually my main problem with this genre.  I like bounce, but some of it is just noise for the sake of noise.  This one I really liked though, and there may be more bounce to come.

0404 - Great Music....from League of Legends?

So recently the League of Legends youtube page released 3 different tracks called DJ Sona's Ultimate Skin Music.  All three were good, but I figured I would share my favorite two with you.  The First is a combination of The Crystal Method and Dada Life called Kinetic.  Phenominally tonal and progressive, this one is my favorite of the 3 released.  It has good progression, great heavy spots that still feel like they flow with the music, and just an overall great feeling.  The second one is called Concussive from Bassnectar and Renholder.  A lot heavier this one has a much darker feel but is still my second favorite of the released tracks.  Dirty, grimy, and very progressive, this one will have you feeling the Dark Side of Sona!

0403 - Truly Divine

First up is one of the few requests to post songs to the blog that I have ever gotten.  One of my close friends asked me what I thought of the new Avicii song, and I hadn't heard it yet so I figured I would review it here and then let you listen for yourself.  The first thing I noticed about Divine Sorrow was the feature of Wyclef Jean, an artist I never pictured having a collaboration with Avicii.  His voice fits the music very well though, low tones, and bit distorted.  Overall not a bad song, the lyrics are a bit cheesy though.  I hope this is one of many tracks that are good off of Avicii's upcoming album (this year if I'm not mistaken).  Oh well, give it a listen and tell me what you think of Avicii and Wyclef John combination!

Also up today is a truly awe inspiring track from Mr. Fijiwiji.  This one had me amazed the first time I heard it.  It never hits hard, it never blows your mind, it's just a catchy relaxing but driving track.  The vocals really add something special to the flow, Danyka Nadeau's voice is beautiful and I will for sure have to look up more music that she has done!  Give it a listen and just relax ^_^.

ALSO: I am likely making a return to Facebook.  It may be a new profile, or a completely revamped current one, I haven't decided!

0402 - Don't Blaze Quite Yet

A progressive house song for you today from Digitalism, remixed by Capa.  This one has a funky smooth feeling to it, reminiscent of Elephante.  Featuring great and very fitting vocals, this one has the great highs and lows that a good progressive track craves.  Though not as big as some of the bangers I usually play on this day, this one struck me in a different way.  Made me feel like I belonged in a strange way.  Give it a listen and see for yourself!

0401 - Free Day to Make You Stay

Today's track is the Elephante remix of The Magician's track Sunlight.  The Magician has a great signature sound and it is blended exceptionally well with Elephante's amazing remix skills.  The two combine to make something really special, another remix that has huge potential.  Tonal, great use of vocals that don't overwhelm, and just an overall great progression.  Check this one out and if you have a twitter account, go ahead and pick up the free download!

0400 - Monday Funday......nope, Fuck Monday

Monday is here again, a shitty day and a 12 hour shift at work from yours truly.  Sadly that means the post was lost in my insane amount of work but here it is, better late than never.

TheFatRat is one of my favorites right, now and I love that he is finally doing original works.  The new one, Never Be Alone really left me smiling and satisfied.  This one has the high pitched melodies that he has become known for mixed in with some phenomenal driving bass and overall just great flow.  The interlude halfway through the song brings a nice change of pace, and the build back out of it is really well done.  Give it a listen and enjoy!

0399 - Hot and Snowy

*EDIT
Sorry guys, for some reason Blogger kept having errors everytime I posted so here is Friday's Post!

Friday at last!  What a week this has been, and thank god its finally over!  Let's start it off right with some NuDisco, a track from Ducked Ape.  This one really has a groovy tone to it, nothing too intense but just the right amount to groove to while relaxing or driving.  La Felix really does a good job of taking the original and putting his own funky twist on it.  I hope you enjoy it and have a wonderful weekend!
