0361 - Way Out of My Element, Well Only Half

I know this is a blog mostly dedicated to electronic music, but I need to share something because it hit me really hard.  Anyone who knows me well can confirm that I am a huge nerd, and although it has been a while since I have seen them, The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies have always been favorites of mine.  With the saga wrapping up and the last movie coming out very soon, a song has been released by Billy Boyd (AKA Pippin) and it is insanely beautiful.  I know this is out of my element musically but I couldn't not share it.

On the electronic music front I have a really sweet mix of an EP from Varien and 7 Minutes Dead called Mirai Sekai.  It features all four tracks on the album and is really a fantastic mix.  The EP is phenomenal and I have been rocking out to it in the car ever since I first picked it up.  Favorite track is either Neo-Seoul or Aeon Metropolis.  Give it a listen and I know you will love it

0360 - SeriouSly Almost Holiday Time

Just a heads up, I haven't decided yet but the posts over thanksgiving (Wednesday through Friday) may only be available on here, as I have no idea what kind of internet connection my grandmother has in Michigan.

This is a very upbeat funky and smooth song from Sir Sly (which I think is absolutely hilarious) called You Haunt Me.  This remix really hits me hard because it reminds me of Some Time Around Midnight, in the fact that its about having trouble letting someone go after the relationship has hit its hardships.  These kinds of songs speak to me and this remix from Idle Earth really has been on my mind the past few days.  Give it a listen and enjoy the start of your short week!

0359 - Friday's Guilt is Gone

Funk is usually just that, and I have yet to this day encountered background funk.  Background is usually a term that applies to chill music, at least in my experience.  This one has a classic 80s/90s feel to it by way of the tonality that seems to come from a percussion marimba of some kind.  Its really funky and smooth and I like it a lot, much different from the funk I usually post on here.

0358 - One More Day Til We Shake The Earth

I'm sorry this week's posts have been so short everyone, in a mixture of being insanely busy and sick yesterday I seem to have about 30 minutes every day.  I will start doing them the night before so that I can have better conversations about the music that i post instead of having to rush it every day in the few free minutes I have every day.

Today I have 2 very smooth track for you.  One original from Elephante, the first original I have heard from him, and a second from Gregory Esayan.  The Gregory Esayan track Titled Monday Night is very smooth and relaxing, with great tonality and an extremely quality flow.  Overall an extremely relaxing track with very futuristic sounds.

Second up is the first original track that I have heard from Elephante, an artist whose remixes I have been obsessed with over the last few weeks.  It has the signature Elephante sound, one that I have really grown to enjoy and it is worth picking up the free download.  Sadly that is all I have time for as I have to run and finish out this 13 hour work day.  Have a great day everyone, and I will see you tomorrow with a much more conversational post tomorrow!

0357 - Get Down With My Sickness

Sorry everyone, this short post comes between Nyquill naps.  Sick with something I hope is only a cold.
One Banger for you today, a remix of a song I have really liked for some time, Virtual Riot's We're Not Alone.  Syntact does a really good job of maintaining and bringing in really beautiful melodic parts while building back into the heavy hitting sections with a few glitchy sections as well.  Pick it up for free!

0356 - Dont be a F.O.O.L.

Today is quick again, sorry guys these 14 hour work days leave me pretty exhausted and pooped with very little time to make these posts, but those crazy work days are done this week!  Praise jebus.

Today's post features F.O.O.L., an artists I haven't features since post 029, but this one deserves to be posted!  A silky smooth song with great tonality that gets stuck in your head, along with bass that is actually pitched and provides a great background for this track.  Soft in the right spots, hitting heavy in the best spots, don't miss this one!

Also from F.O.O.L. is the track Keep On Rocking, another smooth electro song that features a very beautiful build of the same style of Throne, but this one a vocal sample that drops big into the heavy part of the song.  The intro of little pump up lyrics have been big lately, and honestly helping my transition from lyrically obsessed into focussing more on the actual track.  The tonality of this one reminds me a bit of Starcadian, and I like that a lot!

0355 - 6 Month Rewind

Missing the Summer?  The snow is here and its going nowhere.  As much as I love winter I know its not the most popular season so today's track is designed to help you go back to that state of mind.

Majestic gets his hands on the original track Changing by Sigma, who artists I really know very little about.  However the remix is extremely smooth and though it seems a little sped up, overall it has incredible flow with the lyrics.  I would love to see this with like half the vocals, but you have to take what you can get.  A great feeling of summer and may help to warm up your snowy and cold day (at least it is in Ohio).

0354 - Speedy Quick Friday

This one is gonna be fast guys, I am literally on my way out the door to visit my sister.

First up is a smooth and sweet track from Generdyn called Youthful and the name is very fitting.  Its very energetic and has a lot of tonality.  It feels very fun and has the perfect mix of funk and electro mixed in!

Second track for today is a very relaxing track with lyrics reminiscent of Dave Matthews Band who I am not usually a fan of, but the vocal tone really compliments the chose rhythms and tones.  Overall a very smooth funk track that is work listening to, and a sweet guitar solo doesn't hurt either.

0353 - Beautiful Fallout

Today is all about beauty in music.  It may not be heavy and in your face but good lord is it absolutely amazing.  In the past I've called it background music, and its usually what I listen to while working or at home while trying to relax and collect myself.  The first is called Flora from Rocket Science and it just inspires such a feeling of peace and tranquility.  It also helps that the silloutte of Calvin and Hobbes is in the video for this song, just taking me back to my childhood and loving every second of it.  Kick up your feet, close your eyes, and let this track take you away.

Last Island has been on my radar ever since their remix of Porter Robinson's Fresh Static Snow (Find it here Post #0333) and this original that they bring to the table is really something special.  The Next really features some great tonality, kinda reminding me of an old 90s computer game like Midnight Rescue or something like that in space (I can't remember the game but it had talking stars) and really flows well.  Give it a listen!

Last track for today is a really beautiful and calming drum and bass track (I know those words are usually contradictory but.............stay with me, I promise this works).  Its great and driving but still maintains the usual chill themes, and catches you by surprise.  Usually DnB means in your face but this one just meshes the two genres together so incredibly well that it is up there in my favorites for chill tracks this month.  Feint, who usually is on Monstercat and known for his heavy hitters, really changes the game and perspective with this one.

0352 - Do You Feel The Need?

Today's post features a banger off of Tut Tut Child's new EP called Ask Your Friends First.  The track is called Hot Pursuit and I really enjoyed listening to it.  Its got great flow and little jumps of both dubstep elements and melodic house elements.  Tut Tut Child is one of the Monstercat artists that I fell in love with from the first song I heard off one of the compilation albums.  This one was a little more than I expected, but hey, you won't catch me complaining about that!

0351 - Glitchy Melodic Bliss

Two Can really delivers with this unique track called Eclipse.  Not only did I think the player was broken during the playing of this song but i had to check back multiple times.  Thats how the song is supposed to sound though and it really gives it a unique and different feel.  Its out of place but in a really relaxing way that changes your view on chill music and the potential that it has as big genre.

Also up today we have someone brand new on my radar named J-Kraken.  This song really blew me away, usually with chill stuff you get a lot of the same but today is all about chill tracks that give a whole new set of expectations to the genre.  This one has such a unique and smooth feel to it that all I want to do is lie next to someone on the beach with a cold beer and feel the sun on my skin and the water on my toes.  Ive made it a happen of falling asleep to music lately, and this one is so peaceful that its for sure on my playlist for tonight.  Let me know what you think of this one!

0350 (treeschvifty) - Do You Think Elephants are MDMAzing?

TODAY IS monday. ew.
Well back to the grind that is adult life and into the great 730-5 work day.  But Monday also means its music time again and I am very ok with that!

Today I have two Elephante Remixes and an amazing mix from a good friend of mine.

Both songs today are remixes from Elephante, who I have been obsessed with ever since his wildly successful remix of Clean Bandit and Lemaitre.  The first is one that I have been listening to for some time and was surprised when I found that I had not put it up on this group yet!  Galantis has been on my radar this year and just hearing Elephante get his hands on work that is so amazing by itself blew me away.  Great vocal build and amazing drop that has me humming it nearly every day since I heard it.  Also from Elephante from today is a great remix of a Penguin Prison track, who I have liked ever since I heard their first chill song Worse It Gets.  Overall, Elephante puts a funky remix on it and gives it a new light.  Its beautiful and I hope you all enjoy this new artist as much as I do!  Pick up the Free Downloads as well!

Also up for today is an hour long mix from my friend Retox, and it is pretty fucking rad.  The first volume of MDMAzing was great but this one was just what I needed to get through the rough 50+ hour work week ahead.  It's smooth and suave and has great tracks I had never heard of before, for sure worth checking out!  Show Retox some love!

0349 - Post-Halloween Halloween

First up today on this much needed friday is a track from Lazer Lazer Lazer and Helix High called Mr. CrackSpider.  It takes samples from that youtube video about what happens when you give spiders different drugs and the kinds of webs they weave.  Its very dark and I honestly wish I had it for my Halloween week posts.  Oh well, it is still very cool and very bizarre but for sure worth checking out!

Second up is a Free Halloween Bootleg Remix album from Whiiite featuring redone versions of both old and new classic Halloween tracks.  Everything from Thriller to The Walking Dead Theme to Jaws.  Since I can't share the entire pack here, THOUGH ITS FREE AND AWESOME, I will share my favorite.  They put the Legendary track Thriller in the hands of one of my favorites, James Egbert.  Its different but still has that classic feel to it.  Give it a listen and check out the rest of the free album!

0348 - 2 Hour Power Tower

So I have some big hour long sets for you today that have been simultaneously blowing my mind over the past two days.

First up is the long awaited hour long halloween mix from RL Grime.  Mixing over everything from Rap to Trap, this mix is something I look forward to ever year.  This year's installment is pretty good, and I wish I had it for halloween but better late then never I guess.  Give it a listen and give it a chance from start to finish!

Second up is an hour mix going in the completely opposite direction.  This one is an extremely chilled out mix of Odesza's favorite songs.  Its all stuff I had never heard before this mix, but I played it while I was working yesterday and it did a wonder on bringing me back into the peaceful world after a long day.  Let me know which hour you like more!

0347 - Month 2 Feat. Drum and Bass

Welcome to the start of month 2 in the new series I am starting.  The chill relaxing month seemed to go really well so I am very excited to announce November's category, Drum and Bass.  I figure we should go a completely opposite direction from the last one in order to try a new experience.  So how this goes is I will list my top 5 from this category and keep it pinned to the Facebook page (Facebook group is here) and I want all of you to either make your own lists on that link or just comment with a great song that fits into the Drum and Bass category!  Lets get to the list

5. Noisia - The Tide
Dark, creepy, and just overall intense, The Tide freaks me out in a good way.  This one is really crazy, especially with the really long intro that features one of the creepiest voices that I have ever heard on a track.  Its fast, intense, and very in your face.  Overall a great track though!

4. Day One - White City
Ever since I heard this one it has been near the top of my list.  Its just a very feel good song with great deep vocals and excellent tonality throughout the entire song.

3. Tristam & Braken - Frame of Mind
I absolutely love this track.  It just struck me from the beginning.  It has stelar vocals, playing into the fast paced rhythms and mixing together extremely well.  This one just always makes me feel really good too, like it is inspiring change.

2.  Fox Stevenson - All This Time
This song has had my attention since the first time I heard of Fox Stevenson earlier this year.  He has such a great way with molding tracks to be exactly unique to his own sound and I have since fallen a bit obsessed with his every release.

1.  Pendulum - The Island Part 1 and 2
Pendulum was one of my first heavy electronic music influences.  It takes me back to high school, sitting in my friend David's basement surrounded by hookah, magic the gathering, pool, and video games while listening to this album.  Part 1 is very energetic and melodic and then Part 2 comes in and turns everything on its head in a completely creative and unexpected way.  This is still my favorite track after all these years mostly because of the sheer amazing construction of the duo, and also because it throws me back to a time where friends and good music were prevalent nearly every weekend.

0346 - Bouncy Bouncy WUB WUB WUB

Welcome to a Melbourne Bounce day!  Full of wubs and and high energy, both of these tracks will leave you wanting more.  Now to be fair, this is a genre I have always had a little trouble getting into.  A lot of the songs are either too simplistic, have no tonal qualities, or all sound the same.  However, in the past few weeks 2 tracks have caught my eye.....ear? I LIKE THEM, THATS ALL THAT MATTERS.

The first is from Toby Green and is called Bolt.  It has an amazing level of excitement, one for sure that I could see in a chase scene in a movie.  It keeps great tonality while still maintaining the elements of Melbourne Bounce!  Give it a listen and let me know if you like this one!

Something I have really been taking notice lately that very few people do is give tonality to their bass lines.  It makes the song more dynamic and gives it more layers to analyze while listening to it.  This Aidan Dao called Cosmic really is a smooth track that doesn't feel as in your face as a lot of Melbourne Bounce usually does.  I like this one a lot and smooth tracks like this are what are brining me back around to the graces of the genre.

0345 - Where Be Your Mama?

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!  I got to see Alesso, Art, A-track, and Zeds Dead.  Arty and Alesso out played the other 2 so well, and it was really a blast to see them live.

Today I would like to talk about something and then share a little music.  It's funny how an idea can evolve into something so amazing, it may just be something clever you do to pass the time when your wife/girlfriend/parents aren't home.  But if it is unique enough it can expand and grow until it takes over and becomes a sensation.  I am talking of course about this video:
This of course get popular because how the hell could it not?  A dad in a suit jacket and sunglasses playing the trombone and his son in Pajamas and sunglasses banging the oven door closed to provide the bass, its the kind of thing a mom would put both guys in the doghouse for.  As catchy as the song it, the video helps to make it just from the kids reactions during and at the end of the clip.  This was clearly made to entertain these two guys and maybe piss off mom a little bit.  However, it turned into an internet sensation (and may or may not be my ringtone right now) spawning full version songs to be created like these two.  Overall I know it may just be an internet fad, but holy shit does it make me laugh and pee my pants every time the original clip ends and the kid throws his head up.
