0154 - I have a new favorite song

The title says it all.  Currently, my favorite song was just dethroned by something I found while catching up on my music, and I found something from MrSuicideSheep that seriously blew my mind.  Starcadian gives us Chinatown, a sound with a very 70/80s feel that is funky and catchy, even though its hard to understand what they are saying.  I find myself humming this song at least a few times throughout the day, even though I dont know the words, as the melody is just so engrained in my head.  Maybe its because its a bit similiar to Daft Punk, but seems more gritty to me which I like a whole lot.  There is an official music video, but I honestly feels that it takes away from the experience from what you can create in your mind from just hearing the song, but I will link it below.  Check out the song, enjoy your weekend, and don't do anything too stupid!

0153 - Warm in Your Own Skin

The weekend is almost here, hold on everybody.  Just one day away from freedom, relaxation, and the Super Bowl!  Personally I plan to do a lot of sleeping, eating, and playing games online before going to class on Sunday before the Super Bowl.

This song is a bit outside my usual comfort zone of electro/prog house, a bit of dubstep.  Occasionally I find some really good dubstep, but overall I need the melodic tonality that comes with progressive house and electro house.  Most of the time dubstep cant provide me with that.  This one however gives me everything i need in a nice slowed down track, and I love Skrux for remix this piece together.  Enjoy it and I will see you back here tomorrow!

0152 - Banger? Its too damn cold

Clearly I was joking yesterday about that song, just wanted to see how many of you would actually listen to the lyrics.

GOTCHA!

Banger wednesday time, the day for those songs that should make it big and get stuck in your head for days to come.  This one was sneakily released at the very end of last year, and to those who aren't already fans, flew a bit under the radar.  Showtek has been consistent as they come, having the same level of flow and fantastic in each track.  This one blew me out of the water, and I can see it having BIG ASPIRATIONS.  Seriously check it out, it will rule your life.  Make sure you have speakers with good bass though!

0151 - I hope you are still in bed

I hope to god you are still in bed wherever you are.  On my drive to work it was -8, I know Ohio Wesleyan is still open at -12, but everywhere else is closed.  No matter what, take the day off.  Relax indoors, watch some netflix and listen to some music and just tell the day to go screw itself.

Today I just have a happy house song for everyone to try to turn your day around.  Happy, fun, just something to give you a good day while you are freezing all day.  The Two Friends, Jeff Sontag, and I am Lighyear really deliever just the perfect feel good house song.  Good vocals, catchy, and at least put me in a great mood.  I hope you enjoy it, stay warm, and see you back here tomorrow!

0150 - Good Morning Good Morning

Good morning and welcome back to the week everyone!  I hope you all had a safe and eventful weekend (mine was awesome, interesting and concerning, all for many reasons).  Monday means mashups and since it seems to be such an eclectic day, I think it is very fitting.  Off we go....

So I was going through all of the music I have gotten recently, and every once in a while I download a song and then completely forget about it, only to rediscover it and fall in love all over again.  I have had this song for a few months and sadly it just slipped to the bottom of my priority list in terms of songs to listen to and play.  I am glad I found it again because this combination is flawless.  Seriously one of my favorite mashups in a long time, enjoy it and don't let monday get you down!

0149 - Funky Dipping

I am sure you remember the year of Barbra Streisand by Duck Sauce, well it wasn't a calender year but it seemed to be popular for the equivalent of a year's time.  It was the anthem at college parties, was in every remix ever, and was on the radio every hour on the hour.  To be fair, it was a kick ass song.  It had everything you wanted in a song: nice bassline, catchy chorous, and lasting appeal.  Then they kinda disappeared.....

DUCK SAUCE IS BACK!
They just released their free new EP with a new album coming in the near future, and in terms of funky, its so far off the charts it shouldn't even be associated with the charts in the first place.  It is only four tracks, but all four are worth your time and the free download offered with them.  My favorite off the EP is Mundo, but you really can't go wrong listening to any of them.  Check them out and download all 4 below!

0148 - John Legend is the King

Ever since my DJ mentor and music buddy DJ XMFD told me that John Legend electro remixes existed, I have had to change my pants every time I hear a new one.  Seriously.  He has a voice that just makes you want to melt, and the thought of him doing vocals for a top house song is enough to make me want to throw money at my computer screen.  Well Tiesto got ahold of one of my favorite songs by John Legend, All of You, a seriously moving song all about loving every inch of someone for who they are not based on the stereotypes of society.  Listen to it, let me know if you love it as much as I do, and I will see you back here tomorrow for the last post of the week!

0147 - YESYESYES

When I started posting bangers I honestly expected to find something very similar in both style and genre to Avicii's Levels or Project 46's Icebergs every week.  But the concept has evolved in my head into something so much better.  As we have learned over the past posts on Wednesdays, a banger doesn't have to be a heavy house anthem that gets up close and in your face.  Sometimes it can be an indie remix that gets stuck in your head every time you listen to it or just something that you can dance to every time that it comes on, and this song covers both of those categories.  Will for sure be on the lookout for more, because I love every second of this kind of remix.  Enjoy the track and check out the free download from The Chainsmokers Soundcloud page.  See you tomorrow!

0145/0146 - So about Yesterday

First of all let me apoligize.  I missed yesterday because it honestly felt like the weekend still and the post for monday just slipped my mind.  Thankfully we have tuesday, which means 2 tracks to make up for my stupidity yesterday.

For mashup, I first bring you a 2013 compilation mashup brought to you by Dzeko and Torres.  Usually mashups with 40 plus tracks feel congested and like too much was fit into such a small time, but they fix that problem by bumping it out to 10minutes in order to fit everything in.  The mashup is great, the flow is great, and you can pick it up for free!  Enjoy!

Next up is a remix of a popular song on the radio by The Neighbourhood, but trust me this is nothing like the original.  Shaun Frank gives it a whole new twist that makes you forget it ever felt like a slow relaxing song, this is now a huge house track.  It gets stuck in your head, but in a way you will enjoy for some time.  Check out the song and pick up the free download!

0144 - 3 Days of Freedom

The weekend is finally here!  For most its a 3 day weekend so prepare to go crazy and have an extra entire day of freedom!  Lets get this freedom started off in the right way with the two tracks that I have picked for today.
Funky, Free, and about as chill as they come, the description in this song puts its best.. "Warning. Upon listening to this song, you will be taken away to a tropical state of mind that might be hard to shake."  I couldn't have put it better myself.  The Knocks and Treasure Fingers come together to totally knock this track out of the park.  This one is great and relaxing, check it out below and pick up the free download.
Treasure Fingers & The Knocks - DYWT

My favorite song off of Krewella's new album was not Alive (and god damn am I done with remixes of that song) or any of the big named tracks that are all over the charts.  Come and Get it is in my opinion a nearly perfect song, so finding a remix that did anything better then the original proved to be quite the challenge but I love a good challenge.  I found two actually, both taking completely different directions, but only one fits today so the other will come in the near future!  This remix is free, and the best remix I have found of this song so far.  Razihel takes it to a level equal to or slightly skewed from Krewella's original, but its hard to beat something so close to perfection.

0143 - When the Clock Strikes Fun

So this weekend I am going to see Clockwork and Roevy at Skullys in Columbus (If you live in the area then you should come too!)  So I figured that I would share one of my favorite songs by Clockwork, because holy crap am I excited for this show.  Also, I used one of the gift cards that I received for Christmas and bought a pair of Kraken Razor headphones, and if you know nothing about them then you are missing out!  Best headphones I have used in a while, especially in terms of bass quality.

The song I chose to share with you is one of my favorite remixes that Clockwork has done, not only is it a great track with a vocal drop (which I have been obsessed with lately), but it has a great feel to it along with some pretty unique elements that were not in the original.  Enjoy this track and I will see you tomorrow!

0142 - Swiggity Swooty

The Indie track Ash Tree Lane is actually a really great song, if that is a genre that you are interested in.  This remix by Live City however, brings it into the genre of Progressive House and bangers.  With a nice vocal section reminiscent of the original and the introduction of a catchy drop and chorus, this song has just about everything you could ever want in the sense of a Progressive House Remix.  Enjoy this one, and pick up the free download by clicking the Download Button at the bottom of the soundcloud play box.

0141 - Free Fresh Start

Yesterday was a rough day for everyone it seems like, maybe its because it was a Monday, maybe the universe was just pissed. OH WELL.  Today is a fresh start and a new day, so lets get it started off right.  The remix I have for you today comes from Cash Cash, one of my new favorites on the scene lately.  Always great, always consistent, Cash Cash delivers again with this collaboration Remix with Gazzo.  This song has incredible vocals from Emeli Sande and the overall track is just very wide open and paints a beautiful picture in your head if you allow your mind to create a landscape while listening to this song.  Enjoy it and I will see you back here tomorrow for Banger Wednesday!

0140 - Chart Toppers Unite!

Happy Monday everyone, time to start another long and worth it week.  Lets kick things off with a mashup that contains two of the songs that took off last year.  Zedd's Clarity and Hardwell's Apollo were both massive and took over the ears of every electro fan for weeks, if not months.  Flow Zen presents these two together and mashes them up seamlessly.  I know clarity is past its prime, but listen and the song may just be rejuvenated for you!  Enjoy and I will see you back here tomorrow.

0139 - Finally Funky

The weekend is almost here, and good lord do we all need it.  This week has been cold, long, and just plain ridiculous in terms of everything and anything.  Thankfully, as I have always believed, music can heal and turn a mood around in just a few minutes.  Thats what Funk does for me on Fridays, makes me relax and forget all the horrible shit that happened during the week, I hope it works for you as well!

The first track I have for you today is a live remix of an already awesome song.  Not Coming Down by Candyland is a cool song by itself, but then Boney gets his hands on it and throws down a live remix with saxophone that is just about as smooth and sexy as is humanly possible.  The video documents all the instruments that he plays and let me tell you, this kid is really talented.  Its incredible how young the stars of this genre are these days.  Enjoy the Boney Remix of Not Coming Down by Candyland!

I also have a big new track from MAKJ.  I had never heard of MAKJ before finding this track, but if the rest of his stuff is anything like it then I will for sure have more of it for you.  This one is called Mad Max, and it seems a bit themed around the classic movie with a mix of incredible tonality, drops, and a few race-car sounds thrown in there as well.  Enjoy the track and pick it up for free by following the soundcloud link.  Have a great weekend everyone!

0138 - Double Trouble Thursday

Today I have 2 tracks for you, very different in nature but both are incredible.

Fist up is the new one from Muzzy off the Monstercat Label, I know that I dont post a whole lot of DnB in this blog, but I plan to change that because DnB was my first favorite genre.  When I discovered Pendulum, I listened to them almost exclusively and non-stop for months.  Drum and Bass just has such an incredible feel to it, one that can not be duplicated (although I would say the closest is Bounce).  Check it out, and enjoy!

Second up is the club mix of the new track from Dankann.  This one is a bit strange, because I can't quite peg the feeling the song is going for.  Its great, dont get me wrong, just a strange combination of elements.  Its obviously electro, but then it throws in some trance and a little prog.  Its bizarre but I keep thinking about it and its very "Phantom of the Opera"-esk moments.  Enjoy it and I will see you back here tomorrow for Friday's selection!

0137 - Hit it and Escape

After searching through so many songs, I think I finally found a track worthy of being called a Banger for today.  The tonal progression for this one got stuck in my head immediately, the vocals are pretty good, and the drop is incredible in my eyes.  Especially the segment just before the drop, I love how Rush West did this track and I am so happy to see more great stuff from him Armada's channel on youtube.  Enjoy this Banger, get through humpday (WOOT WOOT) and I will see you all back here tomorrow!

0136 - My Main Man Armin

Kat Krazy's track Siren featuring elkka is great by itself, let alone a remix by a big name superstar of the genre.  This remix by Armin Van Buuren is really awesome, featuring an incredible build up and vocals that will leave you with goosebumps.  Or maybe thats the crazy temperature (its -8 right now in Columbus without windchill).  Please stay warm everybody and if you don't have class then just relax and have a great second day off (IM SO JELLY YOU COULD CALL ME SMUCKERS).  Plus this version features the extended video to fit the remix  Enjoy the song!

0135 - Too Long of a Morning

I am sorry if this post seems short.  The temp with wind chill here in Ohio is in the -20s and the locks on my car are still frozen even while I am still sitting at my desk at work, so its easy to say its been a rough morning.  Thankfully I have a great mashup to share with you all today.

The White Panda keeps releasing new tracks, hopefully leading up to new album in the near future because their albums are always so incredible.  I mean they just always mesh so well together and have such synergy in all of their songs.  Enjoy their new one that brings together an unlikely song from deadmau5 and an incredibly unexpected one from Pompeii.

0133 - Blast off into 2014

Happy Thursday!  The first normal day of the new year where the majority of the population isn't hungover (although what better way to ring in the new year).

Since thursday has no theme I though I would play a song that has been sitting on the any day/banger playlist for some time.  This song is an electro song released off of the Monstercat label and is one of my favorites of the year for sure.  It has great progression from chill into bigger bass and has vocals that compliment the tonal progressions extremely well.  Enjoy this track and come back tomorrow for funky and free friday!

0132 - Double Banger for the New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  You guys have made 2013 so great for me, because sharing music through this blog has really given me something to be happy about.  I love sharing music with all of you and it brings you so much joy that you enjoy it as much as I do.  Heres to a new year that has promising implications and it will be even better then the last one!

Here we have a Banger Wednesday as the first day of the new year!  A great way to start things off in my opinion!  So here are two tracks for you to enjoy to start off 2014 with a bang!

The first is an incredible remix of a song by Dillon Francis.  The song by itself is incredible and has an air of magic about it, and the remix just adds a whole lot more to the track.  Enjoy this remix of Without You by Henry Fong!

Dillon Francis - Without You (Henry Fong Remix)

Second up is a nice heavy hitter from the Armada Label, this one is not one to be missed.  Seriously, this track is big and heavy and in your face.  Enjoy this one and kick off the new year with a bang!  Enjoy and I will see you all here again tomorrow!

Caolan Lavelle - Supercharged
